I would just like to announce the first public release of my Rome Total Multiplayer mod. Please see my post on the TWC (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=37722) and also the website at www.rometotalmultiplayer.com.
This is a play by email system using simultaneous turn based moves for all factions (except slave). All battles are fought online in the regular manner.
Currently I have set up three games for players to join.

Version 1.2 logs all results. To get my campaign to work I have had to dispense with the RTW campaign engine and create my own; it does however use RTW to fight the battles online. Please see the website to get a better idea of how it works. Or join a game!

Hi there Raketemensch, and welcome to the .org
Now that both our mods are released and underway, you sure you don't want to merge our projects?

Hi Myrddraal
Thank you for the welcome.
Your idea is attractive, since it would certainly save a lot of effort, but I don't really see how they would fit together. It's not as if we have overlapped effort, since we've created things that are completely different, albeit that they have the same end in mind: a multiplayer campaign. It's like a couple of artists looking at the same object, one decides to paint it and the other to sculpt. Superficially it could be said they're working on the same thing, but the end results are utterly different.

What I mean is that if the aim is to bring all the features of SP into the multiplayer dimension, you've done a lot of work on exporting army info into battles, and re-importing them, I've made it so the actual RTW map can be used over the net, if we combine the two, then we literally have RTW for multiplayer.
Going with you're analogy, its like two artists looking at the same object, one is a painter and one a sculptor. They can either make a semi-perfect painting and sculpture, or they can make a perfect painted statue.
Quite seriously though, I'm about to start work on the battles for my mod, but I can't help but feel stupid when I'm doing work that you've already done...
Cheers, ~ Myrddaal
