View Full Version : Doom: The Film !!!
Hi everyone ~
Was sat here in the UK at 9pm waiting for Rome to come on the TV. As I was flicking channels I came across a trailer which at first resembled a follow-up to Resident Evil: Apocalypse. It was actually a trailer for Doom which looks like it will be released here in December. It is based on the game of the same name which I played many years ago and if I am not mistaken The Rock will be starring in it.
Anybody else know anything about it ??
:charge:
You're right. The Rock is in it. I don't know anything else though.
it´s a good movie.....if you consider that it is definitelly in the "leave your brains at home, let´s shoot everybody" kind of movie.....but let´s face it.....we all like that kind of movies once in a while.

I didn't see this film, but to me it already broke the cardinal rule of video game movies.

The original Mortal Kombat movie was very good.

Not to mention resident evil. Its certainly a gory movie. Ive got it on dvd but only scanned through it so far.
It's on Mars, or in hell, and the Rock, who looks nothing like the bad-ass marine from DOOM, doesn't kill Satanic, cannibalistic aliens at all. Boycott.

I may be suffering from a bad case of taste, but it was horrible!

Mortal kombat was ok and wasn't as bad as street fighter. That is without doubt one of the worse movies ever made

That one also broke the golden rule of movie making in general:
"Don't cast Jean-Claude van Damme"

You just broke my sarcasm detector ! ~:mecry:

Actually, I would have cast him in the role of the Marine for the Doom movie. They look the same, after all.

Resident Evil was marvelous movie. Second was not half as good, but the first part… Two thumbs up.
Doom, on the other hand, is a load of crap. There are scenes and acting that are so artificial, ill-conceived and simply mind-numbing that you get the impression they did it on purpose to attract the Doom kiddies generation that are about to develop first pubic hairs and hence still go for this Tauren dropping.
However, there is a good part of the movie, some 10+ minutes where the camera switches to the main hero in first person mode, like in the game; that was actually fun and interesting, should have made the entire movie like that, couldn’t be worse than it is. Game was much, much better, and I mean that in theatrical sense.

:stare: I was reared on Doom, thank you very much. (Wait, do you mean the third or the origional?)
It seems like the story lines in the games people are starting to make into movies- with the possible exception of Resident Evil- are actually better than the games themselves.

" I don't watch carp :hide: " said once, strike for the south labeled The Greatest Man Of All The Time by me afterwards..
I was frustrated at first. But this just proves that he is the greatest man of all the time. So does this make me a wizard if not someone great ?

Your point is invalid on the grounds that you made a Warcraft reference in attempting an insult.

So has it been released or will it be released? You talk about it as you have already seen it.
Doom is out here in Germany, though I haven´t seen it.

Well, I adored the first Doom and actually even liked the Doom 3; was fun game, scared me few times, played once through it and that’s it.
The movie is the offense to the quality of the games.
I loved both Resident Evil the game and the movie, I disliked the second part of it, not worth pondering over.

Actually, I was intending to write Taurus, wounded up to be Tauren, but adds up to bull****.
There was no insult “attempted” on my part. The movie itself is an insult to taste. Simply poor acting crew ruined any chance of decent outcome.

Rock isn't the Doom marine, he's Sarge. Carl Urban (Eomer from LOTR) is the Doom marine. And yes the monster aren't hell spawn but mutants.
The previews look great but to be honest I am not very hyped up about it incase (like a lot of game to film releases) it is not very good.
