Any other clubbers out there? Which ones do I need to go to in Amsterdam, Groningen, London, Madrid, or even the UK, Netherlands, and Spain in general? I'm going to be away from my parents for four months, with the easiest classes, so I'm going to take every opportunity I can.~D Already on my list are Kapital, Ministry of Sound, Space, Amnesia, and Eden.

Not often in Amsterdam, but there's almost always something on in Melkweg or Paradiso; both are generally live music venues, but often have good clubbing nights too. Now if you were heading to Utrecht I could be a bit more detailed; I'd suggest you try it out sometime anyway, there's plenty to do there.

Ministry of sound is a good start :D
Sadly I don't know any other good clubbing places, exept for those Geoffrey listed.

Oh, any particular type of music or atmosphere you're looking for?

Trance, electronica in general, although when I have too many drinks in me it doesn't matter.~;)

Then you should do very well in Holland, and certainly in Amsterdam.

As said before , Ministry of sound is great for Trance, our very own Ferry Corsten started there.

Dutch clubs aren't that great, but the escape in Amsterdam can be fun from time to time. In Groningen you have 'The palace', not a lot of fun to be had there, better stick to the bars to catch some students instead (fond memories of the Blauwe engel). In general, for the good clubs go to belgium or germany.

You mean when it comes to the venues, the music or the people? I have noticed that audiences tend to be more interesting outside Holland when clubbing. It seems people don't party at clubs in a very lively way around here when not at some kind of large event, certainly less than at comparable locations in somewhere like Germany. Same goes for things like rock concerts, people are way too self-conscious.
And yes, Groningen is the place to be for student bars.

The music mostly, in Holland there is too much trance music and not enough good techno, but I guess that is more a taste thing. The music is also a lot louder across the border, which works wonders for the atmosphere.

Everywhere! Groningen is a very cool town, it is a twenty-something's paradise!

True. I'm more of a drum 'n bass person, particularly when it gets more agressive. If you live near Utrecht you should really try one of the Blackout evenings in Tivoli, it can be very good: good music, good crowd, and loud.
Yes, anywhere in Groningen. It really is aimed squarely at students and has some excellent places.

Tivoli can be fun, but I prefer the Winkel van Sinkel when I am in Utecht. You know the Axl btw? Small yet fun place in the catacombs, I used to organise parties there a few years ago. If you like Drum'n base, I am doing a project in March on a boat in my hometown Amersfoort, around 200 persons, maybe more if I can hire this little island just outside the Eem, it looks good so far. No lineup yet but last year was a great succes. Orgers go free, let me know in time and I can put you + 1 person on the guestlist.

Who'd you have there last time? Sounds interesting, I'll see if there's anyone else who'd want to head that way. If there's any news please let me know!
And Axl, you mean around Cityhall? That's a neat place.
The only one of any significance was Miss Zelda, if you used to be bald and have pupils that are way to big you probably know her ~D Now she does techno with a disco twist, very cool. This drum'n base is more of a test, to see if the area can support it, not really sure how it is going to turn out, it's a first. But do come if you want to, lots of wild on the lose if you catch my drift ~:grouphug:

Being bald and whatnot is somewhat before my time, methinks. Amersfoort should be big enough to support a drum 'n bass thing, there tend to be quite a few people around who enjoy it. Once you've got the details I'll check if it's possible to go. ~

Not a club but the Dublin castle in Camden Town is a good pub that has live bands every night, quite a few big bands played there when they were starting out. Its well known on the music scene. Club hours licence too.
Can't help with clubs I'm afraid, not my thing, except for the Electric Ballroom just up the road from Camden Town Tube (long established rock/metal club). There are dance clubs there too
Basically you are going to want to check out Camden at some point in your stay in London.

So it goes 'til four in the morning then? Sounds like a cool place to chill out. How long of a ride is it from Bloomsbury. I should probably sit down for a while sometime soon and famaliarize myself w/ London by map. Also, as a stupid American, I've been told to familiarize myself w/ the colors, and either admit I'm a stupid American when asking for directions or claim I'm Canadian. ~ If I throw in a few "eh"'s, they'll never be able to tell the difference.~D

I ought to remember the Dublin Castle's hours but I think its more like 2.30 than 4. The landlord, 'arry Conlon, is a real throwback to the old days. Its HIS pub and HE'S in charge. Nice bloke mind you.
Camden couldn't be easier from Bloomsbury, its about 3 or 4 stops on the Northern line. Thats the black one. You could even walk it though you wouldn't want to get lost in the estates on the way.
One tip though: don't stand within 50 yds of Camden tube looking gormlessly at an A-Z. Its nothing to be worried about but Camden has a vibrant "night time economy" if you catch my drift.
