Downfall

Just watched it today and I can recommend it. The subtitles if anything add to the atmosphere. The scene where Frau Gobbles murders her children by sedating them and then clamping their teeth onto a capsule of cyanide was very fraught. You got a real sense of the impending doom and disaster for the civilians and soldiers alike. Has anyone else seen this film and what are their thoughts?

Very good movie indeed - a couple of weeks ago I watched the 3h TV version of the movie when it was shown on TV here in Germany

This is exactly were the movie excels IMO in showing the waste of life when everybody already knew that the end was inevitable.

Brilliant performance by Bruno Ganz as Hitler.

Great movie, you even tend to feel sympathy towards Hitler, which is very strange since you know what he did and started.

Anyway, If you're interested in that time period, it is a must see.

I laughed, I couldn't help it, I actually laughed while seeing this movie in a movie theater. When the movie ended I saw a person sitting close to me crying, I did feel a little bad then, but still, I really enjoyed the movie, even if it was in my own cruel way ~:cheers:

I didn't think the direction was that great, but the acting was(for the most part). I think it could have taken more chances. :hide:
