View Full Version : A 19 year old child who never came of age
Can anyone explain this?
https://img335.imageshack.us/img335/6167/19yearoldkiddy2fq.png
This family member SHOULD have come of age 3 years ago, but is still a child. Next turn, at the age of 20, he finally stepped up and became a general. Is it just me, or has this happened to anyone else? Or, am I going to figure out it happens to everyone :S
Just in case you're wondering, Maroboduus (middle member of the second generation) died in the assault on Rome, which was the first city I took.

I'd actually requested (in another TW forum) that the coming of age system needed a bit of tweaking to make it more random and unpredictable. I know what you're saying - why didn't he mature at 16, we need the general unit ASAP for my next assault etc. Its what we get used to and expect to happen in the summer season when they turn 16.
IMO it was getting a bit repetitive, at least there's a bit of realism to it now. You never know, you may have some superstar genius general come of age when he's 12!
in my vandal campaign i had that too for the entire game i only had the 2 starting generals non of the kids matured, i think one was like 25 or 30

also sumthing weird...i once saw a few familymembers that were divorced...very weird
I didn't NEED him for my next assault, I didn't even notice until I checked the family tree to see Maroboduus' dead picture. Then I thought "That's odd". Seasoned Alcoholic, your ideas about shaking up the coming of age interest me. Divorced family members, The Stranger? what does it look like on the family tree? Screenshot?

Personally, I dont mind "late bloomers", since it's more historically accurate. It wouldnt be very accurate if every male family member of your lineage immidiately turned into a battle-harded general with full bodyguard on his 16th birthday.
Plus it keeps you guessing as to when you'll get another general.
well when you have a 30 year old who hasnt learned to be a general yet you kinda suspect sumthings up especialy when you have only 2 grown generals and your leaders getting older along with your heir

Maybe in his 30 years all he wanted to do was sing, like the reluctant groom in Monty Python's Holy Grail :gring:
Never seen that movie... but anyways that would suck if you lost the game cause your generals wouldnt mature
Never seen that movie...
The beginning of scene 14:

FATHER: One day, lad, all this will be yours!
HERBERT: What, the curtains?
FATHER: No, not the curtains, lad. All that you can see!
Stretched out over the hills and valleys of this land! This'll be
your kingdom, lad!
HERBERT: But, Mother--
FATHER: Father, I'm Father.
HERBERT: But Father, I don't want any of that.
FATHER: Listen, lad. I've built this kingdom up from nothing.
When I started here, all there was was swamp. The king said I was
daft to build a castle in a swamp, but I built it all the same,
just to show 'em. It sank into the swamp. So, I built a second
one. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third one. That
burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth
one stayed up. An' that's what your gonna get, lad -- the strongest
castle in these islands.
HERBERT: But I don't want any of that -- I'd rather--
FATHER: Rather what?!
http://www.intriguing.com/mp/_pictures/grail/small/HolyGrail115.jpg
HERBERT: I'd rather... just... [music] ...sing!
http://www.intriguing.com/mp/_pictures/grail/small/HolyGrail116.jpg
FATHER: Stop that, stop that! You're not going to do a song
while I'm here. Now listen lad, in twenty minutes you're getting
married to a girl whose father owns the biggest tracts of open land
in Britain.
HERBERT: But I don't want land.
FATHER: Listen, Alice...
HERBERT: Herbert.
FATHER: Herbert. We live in a bloody swamp. We need all the
land we can get.
HERBERT: But I don't like her.
FATHER: Don't like her?! What's wrong with her? She's
beautiful, she's rich, she's got huge... tracts of land.
HERBERT: I know, but I want the girl that I marry to have...
a certain... special... [music] ...something...
FATHER: Cut that out, cut that out. Look, you're marryin'
Princess Lucky, so you'd better get used to the idea. [smack]
Guards! Make sure the Prince doesn't leave this room until I come
and get 'im.

Haven't you played MTW? ~;)
.
No, I have not played MTW :(
And quit hijacking my thread :p Though it is very amusing.
hehe in that vandal campaign all like 3 of my children all grew up similtanisly the turn after i settled , the two 37 year olds and the two 25 year olds, the turn after my king died, ... lol
Perhaps this is a Vandal campaign bug then. Can anyone investigate the triggers for the coming of age event, to see if they are different for the vandals?
