Is anyone still playing this? Got any good suggestions/recommendations for modules etc to download?

I never got into it at all. Just seemed so shallow and one dimensional next to Morrowind et al.

Twilight and Midnight are great modules to download if you want to know how to play a proper paladin instead of "EVIL! I SMITE THEE!"
After playing them, it's no wonder that Rick Burton (the author) was recruited by Bioware

I'd recommend the Aielund Saga. It's a great tale that's great fun to play. ~:)

Most modules in NwnVault's (http://nwvault.ign.com) Hall of Fame (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.HOF) are worth playing. Most modules require both expasions, so if don't have them selection is bit limited.

Modules I have personally liked:

Shadowlords/Dreamcatcher/Demon-series (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.Detail&id=4273)
First modules in series are just average, but IMO each module is better than previous one.

CC1: Gates of Myth Drannor (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.Detail&id=3413)
Nice Hack'n'Slash module with decent story. One of the best looking nwn modules. Hotu version (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.Detail&id=3700). Sequel: CC2: Sorrow of Faerun (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.Detail&id=421)

Paladin Trilogy: Twilight (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.Detail&id=2686) and Midnight (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.Detail&id=2927)
Like kekvitirae said they are great modules, only negative thing is that beginning of the first module is somewhat tedious and confusing.

The paladin trials can be overcome using the time trial "cheat" (I stress the word lightly since it's almost impossible to enjoy the trials or complete them on your first try without it).
The hide-and-go-seek game with the boys can be easily done with the TAB key.
The only tedious or annoying part is that bloody (since I cant use any stronger word for it) endure elements+protection from evil bug which makes you immortal.

Midnight makes up for Twilight's shortcomings vastly, except that each time, I usually end up reloading due to a bug or whatever.

I went back to NWN fairly recently and had a good time - which was surprising, as I was disappointed by the original campaign. The original campaign had some nice elements - the Ch1 climax and Charwood were both standouts - but was let down by endless unchallenging fights (similar problem vanilla RTW suffers from, when I come to think of it).

I enjoyed Shadows of Udrentide - played it MP with my son. It has some very nice writing - Deekin and Tymofarr etc - plus the difficulty of the combat seemed much better judged.

I did not like Hordes of the Underdark so much, despite its greater acclaim. It seemed a bit soulless and the first chapter terribly tedious, although it had its moments.

Bioware's Witch's Wake mod was amazing, but given its length and the unfulfilled promise of a series, is only a painful teaser.

Some of the fan made modules for NWN are just incredibly well done. I had great fun in the Shadowlords/Dreamcatcher series which slowly builds up to an experience as epic as the classic Baldurs Gate games. (That analogy is apt, as Shadowlords starts clunky like BG1 but ends up rather sublime like BG2 as the designer learns his craft). The technical virtuosity is just jaw-dropping - the designer actually uses NWN to get you to play Space Invaders, for crying out loud. But it also has soul and I admit I was moved by the epilogue where my character could marry an NPC.

The other real standout for me has been The Crimson Tides of Tethyr, a fairly recent mod. It tells a story of enlisting in a mercenary company in defence of the realm and does it exceedingly well. If you like a martial flavour to RPGs - and I would assume Total War devotees would - it is the business. Plus it has a twist at the end that for me had an emotional kick to rival any other RPG experience.

You might try the NWN forums at Bioware for suggestions. I started a thread there a few months ago entitled "what mods are like Shadowlords?" and got some very enticing recommendations.

For those ambitious modders/writers out there, BioWare is having a writing contest. Submit a NWN module by Jan 30th for a chance to get a job there!

I hate to plug one of the server's I'm playing on, but if any of you roleplayers out there are interested in Persistant World's, one of my favorite's is having a wipe on the 15th, with alot of new content added in. Clean slate for everyone, so it's the best time to be a newcomer.
