I just watched MJ - They Don't Care About Us video - his last good song, me thinks, though in the clip he had already turned into a dancing ghost.
What is the background/history of this black people problem in USA? Or does it possess the quality of being a "problem"? Is it being exagerrated or is big enough to "ignore" or "see" ?
I think the song was directed towards politics/corporates rather then racism;I could be wrong(been a while since I last saw it) but you also see white people in the video. Great song yes, I love the drums.

Though big picture looks like politics criticism, lyrics like "If Martin Luther was living / he would not let this be,no no" or "I am the victim of police brutality, now / I'm tired of bein' the victim of hate / You're rapin' me of my pride" or "Skin head, dead head" focus on black discrimination, if any.
Great song yes, I especially like the explosion where distorted guitars drive in towards the end.
Its always a bit of a misconception to say that the big fatcats don't care about minorities. That's not necesarrily so. Big Fatcats don't care about poor people in general, race couldn't matter less, I'm sure.
It's the way it's always been. And always will be.

Bill Gates gives a ton of money to charities, I've heard.

There's a difference between Bill Gates and the heir to the Mars candy fortune. Gates is still a prole, even if he's rich. "Old money" couldn't care less about poor people.:charge:

it would be nice to get a link to this video, if it's legally available

It's actually not about the video itself. It just initiated my idea to learn more about this. I don't know if it is legal to share his video, what's more I have connection with 64k upload that is practically 6kb/sec upload at peak. ~:(

Most businesses and rich people give the max amount to charities that the gov allows as a tax credit. So it is completely reasonable to expect Gates to give tons of money to charities because he makes tons and tons of money.
As to
What is the background/history of this black people problem in USA? I am not well versed enough to comment extensively but it is easy to point out that blacks are the minority and had no established historical connection to the area so they have been slow to integrate equally into society on a financial level and even less so on a racial level as there is still a great deal of prejudice against them because they are different and once considered a slave/lesser class and because they are commonly poor, two things most Americans don’t like. Different and poor.
There is an issue in America with equality and race and even gender but I don’t think it is as bad as many think it is, especially those who think they are victims of it think it is, but it is still an issue. In general I believe The US’s ability to have integrated as well as it has in just a few decades is admirable and getting better every year. People that bring attention to the issues like MJ and many other artists, activists and politicians only fuel the flames I don’t think that if you ignore the issues they will go away but perhaps everyone should “start with the man in the mirror (http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/michaeljackson/maninthemirror.html)” rather than exploit them to sell records or gain votes.:2cents:
Here is some more info on the video (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/They_Don't_Care_About_Us)

Wahhh...
MJ should STFU and give all HIS riches to the poor instead of using it for hush money in the persuit of little boys' rectums...

I wished that that side of MJ could be omitted without mentioning about it. See what I said :

So please include MJ as long as he has to do with the discussion itself.

IMO there are a few similarities but way more differences, the biggest would be that race and social status (being poor) are the big factors in the US and in France, religion is an additional factor. Also the current situation in the US is after slavery, civil war and integration. In France it is more of an immigration situation with a social breakdown.
I don’t know enough about the Situation in France to comment further.

France is a far cry from the US Situation. I'm sure someone else could explain the details better, but i'll elaborate if you want.
Why not ~:)
