Anybody else out there ever end up with 31 dead in a slinger group during a bridge battle -- by drowning?:tomato: ~

My unit spun on me at the edge -- I just told them to change targets -- and then a minute or two later I scan over to see them at half strength. Scrolling forward, I saw all these little green Rhodians under the gray-blue water next to their unit.~:mecry:

Heroic victory and all that, I had Cretans and Rhodians and Merc Hops defending my bridge into Egyptian-held Halicarnassus and the Selookys only brought spears and peltasts and light cav to the party -- adios my friends.

They only killed 19 -- all spears & back-up peasant plugging the bridge, but I had over 50 casualties. The Rhodians were quite upset with me I expect. Aside from gathering them all for a ~:grouphug: , what can I do to prevent this kind of malf-up. It rather spoiled an otherwise enjoyable win.

You've all heard of ragdoll physics, well soldiers drowning themselves is a feature of CA's new drunken soldier physics. ~:joker:

On a more serious note lets hope CA can fix the engine by the time they release their next TW game.

The main part of the problem was more than likeely they were very tired or exhausted and when they are at that level of fatigue a unit will start dieing off due to exhaustion. Bad feature IMO except maybe for multiplayer. Because of this feature it's way too easy to keep your troops in check and just watch the A.I. potentially drown it's own units.

Plus the fatigue that occurs just from crossing makes it that much worse

Try putting defensive mode on, because if the reason they shifted was because the enemy was farther away at some point, they probably walked forward to keep hittin him. With defensive mode on, they do their best to get closer, even if that means standing under water. If that isnt the case and/or if that doesnt help, the best thing you can do is let them shoot who they want while standing their ground, at least that way they dont commit suicide over being told what to do.
