Apparently me and another person, have the problem that one find day when we loaded RTW, the main menu screen didn't refresh and if we choose an option the other menus build up on top of each other.

We tried re-installing it but always the same problem. Installed patches and everything but still all the same. Pls can anybody give us any help at all?

Thanks,
Aenarion

I recall having a similar problem once. In addition, the mouse pointer left a trail of pointers behind it. I never had to reinstall. I think it was video related somehow and I played with the settings, rebooted and it went away. Has the game ever run successfully for you or did this suddenly happen out of the blue?

Try reinstalling your video drivers and codecs and see if that helps

I had this problem after I downloaded and installed some updated div-x video codecs. None of the movies would play in RTW, and the menus were messed up as you previously said. So I installed Windows Media Player 10 on top of Media Player 9 which was previously installed, and the problem went away. I assume some of the codecs needed by RTW had been messed up, and installing WMP10 fixed or replaced the dodgy ones with ones that worked. Or something I don't really understand. I've heard of others having the same prob. Try reinstalling your windows media player or, any other video codecs and drivers you may have installed recently.

My friend had that, and I brought my game to his for LAN play, and ended up with an RTW disc which wouldn't play movies, and CTD'ed every time I tried. I cleaned it, now it doesn't CTD, just doesn't show movies. My BI has the same problem and I don't know why.

As others have said, it is a video codec problem.
Try install WMP 10 and it should fix it.
If you already have WMP 10 then the codecs have gotten corrupt and you have to rollback to WMP 9.
