Is it true that in The Netherlands, children are told that if they are bad, they get taken to Spain by Father Christmas?

You see in the Netherlands we have a thing called Sinterklaas ( Santaclaus ) that is supposed to replace christmas.
This holiday is basicly the same thing,only with different traditions, the whole gift giving is still the whole point of the holiday.

And yes , liitle kids do get told to behave, or else they'd get taken to Spain with Sint Nicolaas and even worse, they wont get gifts as well.


But Santa ( christmas) is an intirely different thing than Sinterklaas, as a matter of fact, I don't think any other European country has Sinterklaas, they probably only have Christmas.

So essantially you got it right Martinus, you just mixed up the names.

Little rant about Christmas shopping...

Okay so weeks ago I told my sister what I wanted for Christmas from her (Civ IV) but she had no clue what she wanted from me and couldnt make up her mind. Finally a few days ago she made up her mind and said she wanted this DVD, now I was all ready to buy it off play.com for £6 last night where it was dirt cheap. However to my dismay my mum comes home saying she's got it for me so i dont need to get. she get's it from a store in town for double the price! So I have to pay way more, now cant take it back because...well by that time it'll be too late to get it off play.com (it wont get here for xmas). Moral of this story....check out the internet first, there are some bargains to be had!!!!!

My rule of thumb is if you didn't want something before you look in a store then you don't really want it.

I'd rather get money and buy it when I do think of something I want. Money isn't any fun to give as a present though.
