I've heard that there is an end date for the MTW campaign (not the viking one which I haven't played yet) and I was wondering if it is possible to continue playing after this year is reached.

If the game does not allow this, can it be modded so that it does?

Thanks

Yes, it can be moded. Go to Medieval Total War\campmap\startpos folder. Open txt file of the period you want to change ending date. Find lines (at the beginning of the file)

SetEarlyPeriodStartDate:: 1087
SetHighPeriodStartDate:: 1205
SetLatePeriodStartDate:: 1321

and just add this line after them:

SetGameEndDate:: xxxx

where xxxx is the ending year.

Hope it will help

Thanks.

Do I have to do this before strarting a campaign or can I mod it in the middle of one?

Also, with that I could mod the game so that the most advanced units are available from the beggining of the game, right?

Thanks in advance.

You have to mod it before you start a campaign.

About units, you can't in this file.
If you want to change in which periods will units be trainable (early, high or late) you have to download Gnome editor (or Dragon editor as well), open crusaders_unit_prod11.txt with it and change the 20th column (if you want to)

.
Date changes are valid in ongoing campaigns (in MTW, not RTW).
