Hey all, i fubared my copy of Rome (not a new story by any stretch of the imagination)

I was playing around with the folders, and ended up deleting a lot of stuff....so i tried un install from the Rome CD - Nothing happens, i try from Add/Remove programs again nothing, so i delete the folders, registry entries and all other RTW based stuff and still no solution appeard.

I really am desperate here!!

Thanks in advance

This happened to me too a while ago. Are you sure you got every registry entry? If youre using windows then you might want to try a system restore to a point before you installed rtw. Although youll lose any other programs/applications youve installed since then as well.

For the future i highly suggest keeping an entirely separate clean install as a backup.

I meant going to a point before you even installed for the first time. That way you can just reinstall.

he is correct...a point in history before u installed it first, so basically u are dumping many things on your computer...

just wipe out all things on your machine, clean it up, backup what is necessary...and reinstall the game, and if u succeed, copy the entire folder of the newly installed rome...and past it into a new folder on your desktop, and do all of your modding to that...damn, if u have extra space, copy it 2 or 3 times...point being its safer this way.

never never never ever modify your installed game, only a copied version...
and from this copied version, always backup files u meddle with, like u will read so often from all the expert modders on this forum or other ones...
good luck with the recovery.

Yup VERY good advice!

I have a 'stock' RTW install, patched to 1.2
I have one upgraded to 1.3 /BI
And I have my modding install. This way, I have always got a spare set of files to copy back if I mess something up. As an extra paranoid backup, I also have a CD with all the text files burned on it ....
