I have looked almost everywhere (here, in the library, I even googled it) for it. I read that modding was different for vanilla MTW, MTW 1.1 and MTW vi. I can only find guides for modding vi.
I only want to add a faction and some of its specific units.
If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it

I read in a guide for modding VI (by duke John I think) that this ( adding a faction and 2 or three units) shouldn't be to difficult. It's not necessary to make special 3d graphics for the units.
I want to add the Flemish so I need obviously to add a faction, their colour, their flag, behaviour.
I want to add some Flemish units so I need to add the units and their stats. The graphics are no problem only for the actual unit on the battlemap I will use existing unitgraphics (if this is possible).
Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

I don't think you can use FN_FREE slots. Without VI expansion you can't do anything much.
You can however make some units and buildings available for a faction. The two files you need to look at are crusade_unit_prod11.txt and crusade_build_prod13.txt in the root folder.
The problem is, again, you can't make a new faction. What you can do is replace the existing factions. I usually replace the Burgundians.
I'm not familiar with modding the unit graphic so I can't help you with making a new unit.

I think I will Change the Burgundians if necessary, but if I can't make new units without destroying existing ones it really doesn't have a point.
But thanks for the bother
