It might be to stop drug traficking from Canada into the US, however I fail to see how you could build a fence big enough to stop that across the entire parallel. That would cost an insane amount of money and it would destroy relations between the two countries.

Fence needs to go up on Canadian border.
2 reasons:
1. if one goes up along Mexican border to halt the ongoing insanity down there (not just the illegal migration either) but not Canada then wait for the howls about it being a racist move against members of a Hispanic culture (and then be amazed as nothing goes forward and it descends into a worse situation).
2. Some Canadian Muslims have shown up in places like Afghanistan, fighting for the other side. Better to check out who is entering/leaving the northern border in case they feel like going south instead of east (or maybe west, not sure which way's shorter).

Just my 2 pennies worth

Had heard about "tightening" the borders (N & S), and a wall to the South. But, a fence along the Canadian border? Probably, since it has become more and more evident that the inmates are running the ass-ylum in D.C..

Heard one of them talking the other night on how a family of five making $20,000 a year are to "RICH" for food stamps. He repeated the phrase "to rich" about 20 times - to push his point that it would be a crime to aid people living on the border of poverty.

Oh, well. Next we'll be putting fences up around the ghettos in our cities and all neighborhoods hosting minorities. To keep the "bad" elements out. Seems the next logical step. Eh?

It is pretty silly since the terrorists fly first class if they wish...

Or they could just sail a million dollar yacht with a dirty bomb into any harbour...

Or use a sledgehammer, a crowbar and a few other cheap items and derail a train...

The Great Wall of USA? Well most of the components would be made in China.
The Iron Curtain? No, too Soviet.
The Steel Curtain? That would set off another trade dispute with the EU.
The Great White Folly? ... Combines the ideas of White Elephant, Folly and White Supremists quite nicely... might be a bit too accurate for a Government named device.
