Hi sorry if i seem like im begging but ive been witing and searching and asking for a trebuchet since october but non yet i know theres one for a mod called crusader total war but i just want one seperate so i can put it in a mod like lord of the rings total war or just Rome total war.Iknow it sounds like a lot but it isnt that much work.If someone can do it here are the details.
The trebuchet should have a big rock unlike the rocks for the onagers in rome total war.

Hmmm... if that's your only criteria, have you considered modding the rocks instead of the siege engine? It might well be easier that modelling a whole new siege engine and doing all the animations for it...
Not to mention the fact that we cannot change the animations for the siege engines or make them larger or smaller....

I didnt know you couldnt mod siege engines i wonder how crusader total war did it.Well i guess modding the rocks woyld be ok but it wouldnt go with the onagers beacuse the bowl that holds the rock is to small it wouldnt be realistic at all.

Becuase of the way trebuchets work and because of the limitation on editing seige engine animations making a realistic working trebuchet would be impossible. The mod which youre talking about probably just took a nice looking screenshot.

You could replace the bits of a catapult with bits shaped like a trebuchet.... but it would animate like a catapult. Unless someone has released a tool that allows modding of the skeleton and animation routines for siege gear, you can't make a realistic trebuchet.
The 'box' weight would not stay level when the arm moves, and the arm would have to pivot where the catapult does. A trebuchet shouldn't do that.
What they have probably done would work well enough....it just wouldn't be 'right'. You would need extra pivot points to make it realistic.
BIG difference between a proper Trebuchet, and a catapult that looks like one. It would still fire a rock...but .....Besides...you seem to think that a trebuchet would fire a much bigger rock. Why? Just how do you think they brought the ammo to the siege?
If they HAVE found a way to modify the animation routines of the siege gear, I would like to know how. We have some ideas that could use siege gear, but not without revised animation routines.
Until then, what's the point.
Oh yeah.....one small detail. King of the Greeks...Why don't you just learn to mod? You reckon building a trebuchet isn't much work.... so go and do it. We don't exist just to make what you want.

I looked at that and heers what i think. I think that because seige animations cannot be editted and because the catapult animations would never work with that model that they made this model hoping that it could be implemented in game but then later realized that it was a lost effort. If you look below you see something like mechanized ladders. These as well would never be able to work in the game. Id say they made these seige negines in max and then later found that they couldnt be used.
Trust me ive done some pretty in depth work with seige engines about a week or so ago. Theres some interesting stuff you could pull off but those would never work.

Ive tried to do it many times but still cant get it oh and now you will say learn how to mod well i tried that to but no luck so im screwed.
Strictly speaking, we can make new models, even new animations - but only ones that use existing skeletons. It´s the skeletons we can´t change.
New animations for SIEGE ENGINES? How?
Making new animations for human and animal units is easy enough, but I have yet to find a way to import siege engine anims into Max for alteration.
Ciaran...have you actually done this? I have done plenty of work on animations, but never got anything to work on siege engines. Last post I saw, Vercingetorix stated the current builds of XIDX didn't work for siege engines. If that has changed, then that is good.
Shifty has made cannons out of onagers, and all sorts of stuff, and we both looked hard at this side of things. We just wanted scaled up stuff...but we couldn't even do that.
If someone has actually made new animations for a catapult and had them work in game, please let us know how you did it!!!!
EDIT:
Look closely at the things the Chinese mod has, and their catapult just uses Onager animations. It's not a true Trebuchet. The mechanized ladders would replace Siege towers, and be pushed up to the walls. They would have hit a brick wall with the climbing routines though. I suspect the game is hard coded for this aspect of siege towers. Haven't seen Chivalry's Trebuchets, but I suspect they would have done it the same way. No sling on the throwing end ,and weights instead of a bucket for the counter-weight. It could be done that way....but it's still really just an Onager underneath.
