Blackadder - Comedy Genius [Archive]

Hey...

I'm a huge Blackadder fan,more seasons 2,3 & 4 since in season one they had different writers, Baldrick was SMARTER than Blackadder and I just dont really like S1. However I do own all seasons on video and think they are great. I think they just get better and better as they go on.

The Black Adder - Pretty mediocre
Blackadder II - Very funny
Blackadder the third - Hilarious
Blackadder goes forth - Genius

So any other BA fans out there?

(Sorry if theres a similar topic, im still pretty new around these parts.)

Yes Blackadder is possibly the best comedy.

My favourite is the one with the fifteen minuters.

I am a big fan and series three in my view is the most funny and witty. Its not as funny as Bottom but it is definetly second in my fav comedies

Blackadder is just too funny.
I didn't like series 1 at all (too much shouting and well... just not *that* funny), but the quality drastically improves from series 2 on.
Series 3 are the funniest in my opinion...

Always enjoyed blackadder, from when I was a wee nipper and stuff of baby eating bishops went over my head, to nowadays, with my finely developed sense of humour "I say, duck, sounds a bit like "bum!"!"

not seen much of Bottom or the young Ones, what I have seen was excellent, though...

I particularly enjoyed the fourth series (that is the one in the trenches, right?) and wasn't quite as keen on the third series.

I think a particularly great aspect of the series is its still great today. I am fifteen and so i wasnt even born when the series finished in 89 but it is one of my fave shows today.

The DVDs are currently £45 on play.com and amazon by the way, but with that you do get the two christmas specials.

(I got the standard box set with just the 4 seasons on and that was £40 a few months back.)

I completely agree. What annoid me was the BBC releasing a DVD set with all the extra programmes soon after I had bought the standard edition. Grrrr.

Isn't the new set about 50 quid, though? The old one was substantially cheaper.

Funny what sticks with you. To this day I can't see a squirrel without thinking how much I hate them with their long tails and their stupid twitchy noses. Or the wind making a sound that sounds like phwooooar...crikeeeeey...

Black adder is a great series.

Season 1= not funny at all, the best episode would probably be the one with the witch hunter, other then that it was horrible.
Season 2= Great, I love the episode "potato" and the last episode
Season 3= Just as good as the second season
Season 4= The best season.

The first Blackadder was just Mr Bean in tights, pretty much stupid slapstick with Rowan Atkinson sounding as though his balls were in a permanent wrench.

im a blackadder fan here as well, season 3 is the best by far, fllowed by 4 then 2 then 1. I got the first DVD boxed set without all the specials :(

I'm lucky enough to have a book with all the scripts of the whole blackadder series (not orginals, the book they did for comic relief ages ago) and t has a list of funny quotes at the back, my favorite being...

Blackadder: The only decent impression he could do is a man with no talent.
(series four, talking about baldrick's Charlie chaplain impression)
