Spartan is TOTAL WARRIOR and there is only Spartan trademarked under that title...

They should just do a Napoleonic game if they want to stick with Europe. Or else they could do a game like that Age of Mankind mod.

I found the same thing a few months ago and started a thread here. A CA employee told me that Legend: Total War was the original name for Spartan: Total Warrior.

It is a bit like Medieval: Total War, because that was going to be called Crusader: Total War.

I have not heard of the Empire: Total War name before.

I hope empire total war means napoleonic or maybe if I'm dreaming renaissance era.

Empire is a very broad scale, Rome could have just as easily been called Empire, as could have the other two titles since the point of TW is to build an empire. Just look at the AOE series, they've got kings that they class as empires just as they did colonial. I hope they change the name if it's supposed to be empire. But in the context and looking at what eras they've already covered, this would point to the colonial era, looks like we've got Britain, France, Germany, Russia, Austria-Hungarian and all the over used familiar factions we've seen in many games if this is the case.

It's odd, because I thought to create a great game of Napolean times a new engine would be needed, which i was lead to beleive wouldnt happen until TW5. Dont get me wrong I'd buy/play a NTW but I think they should make a new engine for it.

Maybe it was called empire, then they changed it for some reason.

I am sure a CA employee will be along soon to tell us what it means.

Nah, just look at what the Lordz are doing and you can see that this engine can handle gunpowder and it looks great. And they are bound by limits.
Just imagine what CA can do.

maybe Empire is for Rome...but i dont think so i hope its for napeolontic era

This engine could easily handle the advent of gunpowder. Though I'm not sure how they would implement skirmishers and sharpshooters, that is something that would need to be tweaked a bit. The current system of skirmishing would not suffice :P

Could be Holy Roman Empire too, which covers a vast span of time.

well sharpshooter

more reload or aiming time, longer range (maybe not always) and bigger attack cuz they shoot more accurate...there is accuracy you know :san_rolleyes:

i dunno bout skirmishers...but there can be alot of variety with just the system we have...of course it needs some tweaking but i could be done...just look at NTW2

Err. No.

We have an excellent idea of what comes next, and the game after that and possibly the game after that. What I can't do is tell you yet what is going to happen. I would if I could but I can't so I won't. Let's just say that people are going to be pleasantly intrigued.

That sounds ... err, intriguing! I think it rules out a Napoleonic Total War as the next game. It suggests a setting a little more quirky and idiosyncratic than MTW and RTW. Maybe something more like Shogun. If so, I am not sure how CA are going to square it with their aim to serve a mass market. [Crosses fingers that CA keep to a historical setting.]

You can all stop your guessing, I already know the next game in the TW series.

It's Lego Man: Total War.

It's your childhood dreams come true. You can finally lead an army of Lego Men across a custom built world featuring realistic Lego Brick trees and Lego Brick rolling landscapes and fight other Lego Men armies to become supreme ruler of the Kingdom of Lego! Whether you'll choose the Medieval, Pirate or Space themed Lego Men to go into battle, you'll find the authenticity and excitement second to none. Plus you'll also be able to construct your own fortifications from the many Lego bricks you can unlock during your adventures! And you can download more Lego content online! A fun strategy game not to miss!

For Ages 5+ . Contains scenes of Lego Men hacking the limbs off other Lego Men that may upset some younger players.

That wouldn't be a bad idea actually.
Always wanted to see thousands of lego dudes doing a epic battle.

'Pleasently intruiged' unless that was just a random use of words to make us all even more..well intruiged then I'd say that points to a fantasy. But furthermore that wording also points to a non orc/goblins/elf/dwarf type game, sort of like what Rise Of Legends are looking to do, a more original theming.

Funny how I get that out of just two words lol, I may be well off. But thats what that leads me to believe.

Edit: Also if it is going to be callec Legend: Total War then this also points to a fantasy based game.

I thought we already determined that is wasn't going to be called Legend: Total War, that that had been the original name for Spartan: Total Warrior. Aren't we looking at Empire: Total War now?

Anywho, my bets go to something in the Napoleon-time period, which would actually pretty cool, especially if it encompassed the whole world.

The_Doctor

Do they own any more names?

EDIT: I checked on the trademark website.

There is Rome:total war
A total war by itself
A total war by itself, that is not a computer game, it could be board game or card game.
Empire Total war, which was bought in March 2003.
Legend total war, which was also bought in March 2003.
Medieval total
Total War, the logo
Shogun total

Also, in case anyone finds it and gets all excited, the original title of STW was Taisho: Total War (how sad am I?)

I expect we will see an announcement of TW4 around E3 2006, until then CA will continue to tease us ~:)

I would if I could but I can't so I won't. Let's just say that people are going to be pleasantly intrigued. "Pleasantly intrigued", if accurate, to me evokes the question: "how are they going to implement that?". 'Pleasantly surprised' would mean something big and unexpected (i.e. Star Wars: Total War or LOTR: Total War).

Also, the last action on Empire: Total War was at the latest May 2005! Something about -published for contest- which mean a timeframe/window with which to contest the trademark.

And, if it follows the STW/MTW pattern, this next TW game would be based on the RTW engine as well.

Hence: A TW game with heretofore unimplemented gamepley (i.e real-time ship battles) that's not far off from Rome engine. Although, I don't believe they will re-make MTW - and much less the venerable STW - just yet. Napoleon: Total War seem too big a scale though (for today's computers).

Empire, Colonial or New World: Total War

or Sims: Total War :san_laugh:
