Sort of explained in the title but I'd like to hear about some books about the british empire (more specifically the legacy)

If possible, I'd prefer to narrow it down to two or three (other then Niall Ferguson's Empire, which I already have.) The reason for this is I'm competing in a CLIO essay writing competition...with the top prize of?

Anyways, it basically looks good on your CV and anyone who's doing history GCSE can take part

Jan Morris did a trilogy.
They aren't particularily academic though (or so I believe, I haven't read them but have meant to).

I've already read empire by niall ferguson (in fact, I have it but it makes little difference) good book but anything else?
