View Full Version : Overseas trade
Does anyone know some good books with information about the finance of overseas trade around the 14th – 16th century?

Try some of the books focussing on the Hanseatic League and its workings .
A classic on trade is Peter Spufford's The merchant in Medieval Europe.

Great.
Where can I find the book?!
Great.
Where can I find the book?!
Eh? In Romania? Dunno... In a university library I guess, or in a good bookstore... I myself had to buy it for a university class on Medieval economy, so the local bookshops (who specifically supply students) had it in store.
I however see I didn't give the complete title:
Peter Spufford, Power and profit. The merchant in Medieval Europe (Published by Thames & Hudson Ltd., London, in 2002)
It's rather enjoyable, with lots of pictures (and endnotes, unfortunately). It's about land trade as well, if anyone finds that interesting...
Tnx I'll try to find it.
To be a little more specific :It's about European overseas trade.
