And on Christmas too!

Ah well time for revision then... :san_laugh:

that's not the compute, but the monitor. A loose connection I think.

Not necessarily. The same thing happened to me and it turned out my video card was busted.

I managed to give myself that screen by running beta drivers for my Radeon. Didn't think it was possible, was absolutely convinced my monitor was dead. But the fatal clue was that it booted into Linux just fine, no screen problems at all. Saved by dual-booting!

Gah, i also have problems with the computer. It is just about managing to keep going long enough for me to make backups of files i wish to keep. I plan on reinstalling Win XP for the seventh time sometime within the next two hours.

I also need a new monitor, as this one is pretty ****** up. It keeps flickering and stuff, like a TV with bad reception.

Morning and Merry Christmas. Please don't swear - Beirut

The monitor is fine. If I can take screenies of it, it's not the monitor. Looks just like when I tried and failed to sfftmod it. One of the pipelines has gone or something. I'll try reinstalling drivers, but I suspect it's going to need new hardware. Ah well. An excuse to buy something new to run Fear better!

Hah, reinstalled drivers and now the desktop is fine. Playing Fear still destroys everything though. *sigh*

Heat problem?

I had an old Geforce2 that would scramble & lock up whenever I ran high-end(at the time) games. I was able to alleviate it by mounting a slot fan along side the vid card.
