View Full Version : Playing Romani campaign but game sees thema s Greeks?
Hi,
Been trying out EB and have done a bit of a search but couldn't find anything on this issue (quite an obvious one).
I have started a campaign as the Romani but all theses things are Greek:
The campaign intro cut scene is for the Greeks
The characters/generals avatars etc are the Greek looking ones
The battle flags in ont eh battle field (not on the strategic map) are Greek not Romani
The voices of all my units are the greek (english) ones
The pre battle speech and end battle voice over is the Greek one
Why is this occurring and isn't the Latin Voice pack supposed to be used for th voices anyways?
I started some other campaigns to see what campion intro cut scenes they get and they too seem to not necessarily be specific for the faction.
Cheers

This is a result of the swapping of factions between cultures. We may not be able to fix everything before we switch to 1.5.
Will it be fixed after the switch to 1.5 or is it wholly unfixable?

Are you talking about ALL of these things I mentioned?
Where am I supposed to be hearing the Latin Voice mod that came with the EB install? Surely it was meant primarily for the Romani campaign.
Hearing the Romani talk like Greeks and seeing the Greek flag atop of each Romani army unit when in battle is very distracting.
In the EB preview screenshots, were all those shots of the Romani army from an individual custom battle (and not from the campaign game) and that is why they had the proper Romani flag?

Yes. All of these things. There are a limited number of cultures within the game and many of them are shared or specific to very few factions. Examples include Carthage and other eastern factions in one culture, egyptions for one culture, all barbarians in one culture, all romans in one culture, and so on. In order to create the world of EB, a culture swap was implemented where the details of one factions are essentially cut and pasted onto the desired culture. It is much more complex than this, but I think you get the point. You ware seeing the remains of the culture that was pasted over, but this will be changed in time.
1.5 allows us to define our own cultures, and to give these cultures to whichever factions we like. So we don't have to "swap" anything.

switching to 1.5? awe man there goes diplomatic relations with any faction in the game :sadg:
anyways, i do hope this is fixed but its not to big deal... except when my general talks about his roman army being the sons of greece :tongueg:

~ Really?
WOW!!!!
I'm 99% sure, yes. Either that or it is BI, in which case I suspect we'll be moving to 1.6 in the future. The benefits to us are too great, unless we discover some game-killing bug.

What do you mean about the diplomatic relations in 1.5? Haven't tried the patch yet. Are you saying diplomacy is even worse in 1.5?

And also what's the deal with buildings you mention?

Yes, from what I hear it does. Plus it may allow us a seventh culture.
So every one of those five points I mentioned probably won't be fixed?
Hmm...this is all kind of unfortunate to hear. ~:mecry:
So I will never see a Roman army carry a Roman flag into battle in any of the campaign battles in EB? (probably applies to many other faction as well) ~ :jawdrop:
Can you perhaps list the factions that at least do carry their faction flag into battle?
So what happened to all the Roman voice/cut to scenes etc that are in RTW. Why did the Romans get the Greek versions in EB? Who got the Roman stuff (slot?) or was it just not used in EB at all?
An no answered my question about the Latin Voice Pack that comes with the EB install. Where am i supposed to hear it?
Or the question about the EB preview screenshots: were all those shots of the Romani army from an individual custom battle (and not from the campaign game) and that is why they show the proper Romani flag in battle?

They may not be fixed all for 1.2 versions because a 1.5 versions that is not that far away will have no of these issues and the romans can be there own culture again.
