View Full Version : Age of empires III review.
I know what I said before about AOE3 but I take it back, when I wrote that it was the first day I got it.Heres my official review of AOE3. Iv looked more into the game and fiqured out how bad it really was (They cover it up with graphics).
DONT buy it, or at LEAST for another good 3-5 months. The game is horrible, horrible as in it has to be the most bugged game Iv ever seen. They put it months before it shouldve been. I cant play multiplayer and naval battles practically freeze my comp.
www.agecommunity.com -now thats a community pissed off. Thousands of people got ripped off, I suspected this game would be better then Age of empires 2 but it falls short...Like falling off a cliff short. Just look at the forums and then your see what im talking about.

Im sad for you...
Its a good thing that people open their eyes and see that the whole basebuilding shortcut/build order memrising while managing gangs of 40-50 individuals has nothing to do with strategy but is instilled to them by marketing and mass pshychology...
Ensemble has the same fear that every basebuilding "RTS" developer...FEAR OF CHANGE...

Looks like the total war series is changing the world... but as for AOE III i knew several months before its release that is was gonna be [snip]... the graphics were "too good" in the screens

it definitly falls short im as disapointed like i was aftr RTW...now only CoDII can make my day good
what i dislike most is how big everything became but the map size didnt increase
the deleted reaLity by taking away deposit sites and playing the turks is awfully annoying cuz you cant stop making villagers and
YOU CAN ONNLY PLAY Team 1 vs Team 2 nothing more

I had the game in my hand, but my mate said why not download the demo first.
So I downloaded the demo and have played it a few times. I like the idea of the game and I love the time period, but I must admit I find it quite boring. Not really my cup of tea.
So thatnks for your review, it backs up my throughts, I shall ot be buying this. I think I will wait for Heart of Iron II update - 'doomsday'
Ok, it's not as bad as I said, I was in a pissy mood while writing it. But several people have problems with the game, I have this IP invalid bug where I cant play any multiplayer game, when I click on a game it says "You have a invalid IP adress".
Theres several people that cant play this game, but if you can good for you.
But maybe im biased :(
[QUOTE]Dont even try to blame routers, im so sick of seeing you tell people to go look at your half assed FAQ.
Im so sick of getting Invalid Ip, failed to connect, and sync errors. You cant do anything else with my router, I have to turn dmz off, uPnP off, port forward, do a cfg file and turn on special applications, before Invalid IP errors stop. But once they stop, i cant join any game, and noone can join mine.Dont even try to blame my router, nothing left to do with my router.
You act like these are router and firewall problems, when these are simple shotty programing. Im a computer engineer,i know how to set up my hardware and software. In all my years i've never seen a company as ignorant as yours. Stop blaming the routers and fix the real problems, your busted ass code.
I tried to take this game back, and babbages wouldn't take it back. So do you offer refunds for your customers? Never release a game that isnt finished. Rule one in business. Dont sell something, that you still need to fix. Makes you look bad, and when you look bad, you lose money. This game was the final nail in the coffin that is microsoft. I will never buy another microsft product. EVER, Linux for me from now on if i have to.
In summary. Stop blaming routers, start admiting your faults.
Plenty of games, MOST games, work fine with routers. Yours doesnt, FIX IT, stop playing the blame game.

Backs up my suspicions of the game. I've not played AOE, with the exception of the AOE2 demo. However I have played Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds which is built on the aoe2 engine. Easy to win, memories those build ques, or perhaps build a heavy wall surrounded by turrets and sit their in perfect security.
Lol, there's this guy at school he believes he is a strategy master, his brain is fitted perfectly for strategy games, I asked him what game he plays....the answer - AoE3.
There's no hope for some people.

It's age of empires my man. Ensemble hasn't (or hasn't been aloud) to make any improvments/enhancements to the game play since AOE2. AOM was AOE with 3D graphics. AOE3 is AOE2 with much much better 3D graphics.

I knew not to edge near it after the playing the Demo. As well in an interview I remember the designer saying things like "This'll be the best looking game out there!" and "We wanted it to feel like AOE still". It seems innovation is chained up in fear of messing with the formula. I enjoyed the AOE series up to AOM without its addon but that was before I got STW and MTW. I won't go near them now.
