anyone know a file one could edit or a mod one could download to make it so HoI2 doesn't have an end date? IE, so that the game keeps going after WW II is over?

There's a thread (http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=91395) on the Paradox Interactive forums about 'no time limit' mods for HoI2.

I'm new to HoI2:Doomsday and after playing a little on 1.0 as Nationalist China, I updated to 1.3 and found myself with one hell of a lot more mountains than I did before. Is this...normal? :dizzy2:

RabidGibbon

Yep.

I hear they added the mountains as a way to slow the Japanese down.

Those mountains are necessary, though troop movements suffers they at least allow my Chinese soldiers to fight the numerical and qualititatively superior Japanese. It's frustrating when I feel strong enough to do minor counterattacks but it severly limits Japanese breakthroughs.

Lately I got some suprising results with my Polish campaign in mod 34.

https://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b356/cegorach/final.jpg

I played on normal/furious ( hate this IC reduction) with techteam takeover ( Armageddon) so some Germans worked for me after I annexed Germany in April 1940.
It took some time to rebuilt manpower and modernise the army untill in January Korean III WW was started by Stalin.
In August/September I decided to and the game - the SU was beaten and the only power I got to beat was the supersized USA with 700 divisions. I could handle them from 1950 I guess, but I forgot to save the game after beating Stalin and had to uninstall the game anyway...

Now I am waiting for CORE 0.30 - good naval war is what I really need.:book:

Which mod are you using there cegorach? I don't have Armageddon, so can't tell, but the unit icons are different from the original ones...

Mod is the Spanish-made 'mod 34 revolutions' (http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=277121&page=1) or something (needless to say there are dozenz of options for Spain, you should like them) but the icons are from Polish Skif graphic mod

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=236771&page=1

Skif isn't perfectly 'tuned' to 34's needs because the mod adds dozens of new options, but the icons are small works of art and most of the powers are covered well in any case so in my opinion it is a 'must have'.

P.S. I am rather new to HoF - bought the game two weeks ago - but did some search for the best products available and the 34 is still the only really good mod working for Armageddon (perfect for naval war), at least untill CORE 0.30 will come.:juggle2:

Bit of a strange game today.

I uploaded my Victoria Revolutions file into Doomsday, and it went very strange. I have just Annex Russia :)

I have loads of satellite country all to the east, so I dont have to worry about the Red mist attacking and its only June 1936.

This could be the easyiest game yet :)

I hate the production slider. That's the only annoying thing with this game.

What do you mean?

naut
05-24-2007, 11:05
Well when you move one slider, you can't lock it in place. So it stays the same and the others move. Plus it's really inaccurate.

Double-click on the slider tab. That will lock it in place.

There is no event for that, you'll have to try a mod to get that event. There is one independant mod, I'm not sure if it's finished, for this specific purpose. There is also the Kaiserreich mod, which is a full conversion.

Hmm. Ok. Could you post the link to the Kaiserreich one please?

Kaiserreich (http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=223176)

Not a direct link, but straight to the mod thread on the Paradox forums. Downloads on first post.

I didn't download it yet because I don't know if it needs 1.2 or 1.3a. Does anyone know? I'd love to play HSR again and Kaiserreich as well (it looks much more finished than when I first really got into the game) but I don't want to revert to 1.2 if I can help it.

CORE is, well, I don't know... I have problems with downloading mods where they don't tell you exactly what they're changing the game into.

I could never get Kaiserreich to work. I don't know why.

* Patch Hearts of Iron 2: Doomsday to 1.2.

Extract the files to a folder in your Doomsday folder named "mods". Copy the JGSE (or w/e) mod controller next to the mods folder, and double click that to enable mod.

And make sure you download the Doomsday patch. There is a difference.

I'm busy atm playing 1914. A very good First World war mod.
There are a few bugs but overall it's very fun.

I've heard good things about that, but I'm waiting until it's at least at 0.6-0.8 Beta stage.

Yeah the main bug is for some reason if you aren't Germany (i.e. Austria-Hungary)they send you quite a few units of theirs as exp forces. It's annoying but you can advance when you get used to it.

Although the last post on the forum section says that they aren't doing anything with it at the moment.

Can't find a Victoria thread, so can anyone enlighten me about how to improve infrastructure? All the major powers apart from Russia and myself have improved their national railways hugely since '36, and I have no idea how to. I'm playing as France, with a laissez faire economy so I can't improve my railways manually. The capitalists aren't doing anything about it, despite my researching railways up to iron (I think). The only railways I've obtained were captured from Belgium, which is pretty embarassing.

So, can anyone teach me how to encourage this kind of expansion of infrastructure?

So, can anyone teach me how to encourage this kind of expansion of infrastructure? Two things you can do is increase exports (that's where their money come from) and lower the rich taxes. :P

If your economy can sustain pushing the rich tax down to zero, then do it. I know, those rich bastards deserve to be taxed to death *cough the good old days of vanilla Victoria and 100% rich taxes cough*, but just bite the bullet until the glorious socialist revolution!

France has quite a few capitalists and it's laissez-faire so you should get lots of railroad quickly. I hate laissez-faire myself though since those idiots tend to build like a hundred empty glass factories and I hate that kind of micromanaging hell. Can't stand late-game Victoria for that reason.

Back again, this time as emperor of China. How does one go about civilising uncivs? I read somewhere you needed 100 prestige, 50 industry score and 10 military score. Well, I'm way past that and rated a great power (cheat :P), but STILL I can't expand RGOs because I'm an unciv, apparently.

If only I could define which places I would want to declare territory from. It would be fun to declare Rome as my legal right. :2thumbsup:

I only have HOI II, haven't played for a while but am thinking of getting back into it. Is it worth upgrading to Doomsday or not? Or to put it another way, what does this offer extra over vanilla HOI II? :help:

Cheers

It makes the timeline longer. A new scenario, lots of other stuff I can't remember I'd say it's worth getting.

It'll mostly be a basic modification to add in the nation of Prussia. Once I've completed that, I might possibly set the era around the 1500s and well, around Europe and the East coast of America.

Csargo

Prussia wasn't a sovereign state in the 1500s I don't think.

An update to the mod I've been making, I've messed up creating Prussia, yet I'll start all over again, maybe on a smaller scale by working in the confines of Europe only. Once Prussia is done, I'll work on adding other countries for an unhistorical game!
