View Full Version : RTW: Thing just crashes at next turn... debugging?
Is there any way to get RTW (1.5) to make a log or something so I can figure out what is going on?
I have a very good game going on and at the next turn, the game just crashes to desktop. I tried using a script and changing factions, skipping the dreaded turn on my faction (I figured that it might be an event movie or something that was crashing it, so I'd play one other faction for a turn and skip the offending piece), but the game still crashes. So yeah, logger, debugger, anything? I've been playing this game for about a week.
Have you tried the show_err command line? Just add that line to the desktop shortcut and it should tell you what caused the crash.
Tried that, I didn't get any kind of error message (acted same as before). I googled and someone said that command line option hardly worked.
Any more ideas?
I too would like an answer to this.
The game keeps crashing and it's starting to irritate me in a serious way. It began soon after I downloaded the 1.5 patch.
The only remedy I can really see is to save every turn.
Sorry for the quick double post.
This always happens on the turn "Summer 236 B.C."

How many of the text files have you modded, and in what kind of depth? If you keep track of which files you have changed, you can then attempt to work out where the scripting is causing a CTD.
However, I was receiving a CTD after downloading a potentially corrupt patch RTW v1.3 from Download.com (http://www.download.com). Managed to work out that two models were corrupt, and needed partial recoding.
Have you changed the default hidden resources in export_descr_buildings? If you remove Italy, the game will CTD because this hidden resource is related to the Marius Reforms event. Its best to leave the other two (Rome, Sparta) in as well to prevent further problems down the line.
Excuse the lateness of this reply.
In my game, all I had done was modify the game so as to allow all the factions to be playable. That was it. There is no real cause that I can see.
