I have heard some stuff about switches like -ne -nm and -show_err, but when people talk about these kinda things I start to get headaches. Can someone help explain these things or give a list of all the switches, what they do, etc.........? I need help.:embarassed:

Make a shotcut to the .exe file RomeTW. Go into properties for the shortcut. In the target field you should see the path to your RomeTW .exe file in quotes. Behind the path ou would add your arguement such as -show_err or one of the others. They each doa different thing when you start the game through that shortcut. '-show_err' for example will generally tell you whats wrong if the game CTDs which as you can probably guess is a nice little tool for modding.

But what are all of the other ones?

-ne runs the game in windows mode so that you can continue to work in other files while it is running. This is extremely useful.

There's another that disables the video (nm) but that is not very useful as you can just press escape.

the -ai switch is useful if you want to check some things such as CTDs, victory conditions, AI personalities, etc. It runs the campaign as normal except that your selected faction's turn is taken by the AI - just sit back and relax ;)

I tried the -ne switch but it only goes into window mode when I start a battle. Is there a way to get it into window mode during the menu or campaign?:help:

Sounds like your campaign screen resolution is the same size as your monitor - if you reduce it to something like 800x600 in the Options> Graphic Options menu you may be able to see the desktop.

The lowest possible for the strat map to go is 1024x768x16. It doesn't give me a chance to go any lower.

You can try changing the resolution of your monitor - or alternatively, I've found that if I put the cursor at the bottom of the screen the Windows bar appears and I can select other programmes.

OK I'll try that. Hope it works.
