*POSSIBLE SPOILER* Triumph question

I have great general who is conquering remains of once great trading nation Karthage. Now he is getting old and I would like to see him to do triumph before he dies.

Well here is the actual question: He is already vanquisher of Carhage. He needs to be elected as imperial by hes troops but they just won't do it.

So is there anything what is needed to be done so he gets that?

Ahhhh the Carthagian Triumph. So elusive. So rewarding. Just keep fighting and killing the SOBs and you may eventually get it. Triumphs are no easy thing to attain.

As Malrubius explained to me, the triumph consists of a series of progressively-more-difficult-to-attain traits. Each trait requires about three times more work then the previous trait IIRC.

Have fun. I love pursuing the Triumphs. One of my favorite parts of EB actually.

The first step on the road back to Rome in triumph is the "Vanquisher of Carthaginians" trait, obtained by winning a battle or two. Next, after more conquest, you'll get "Conqueror of Carthago" (It wouldn't be much of a spoiler to tell you that conquering Kart-hadast itself will get you closer to a triumph than conquering Lilibeo).

That settles those requirements that can be easily obtained by your general. Next his men must name him "Imperator" (commander). Preferably, after a numerically important and difficult battle, won decisively. In history, there were instances of a general paying his men to get the title, but we're not going to let you off that easy. ~;)

Exact criteria:
Number of enemies on the battlefield:
Small unit size: more than 250
Normal size: more than 500
Large size: more than 1000
Huge size: more than 1500

More than 30% of the enemy killed (you want a clear or heroic victory)
Even odds or worse
Attacker or defender

Finally, after being named "Imperator" by his men, the general must be awarded a triumph by the Senate. In history, they sometimes made men wait or refused to award it, so having some pull (i.e., Influence) helps here (more than 4 is preferable, and 8+ is great!).

Cool, looks like my Carthage-crusher general has a good chance of getting it ~:) But I'm worried about my Gaul-crusher general, because there are soon no more galli left to fight. I assume you can't get a triumphus by first killing gauls and then proceeding with rebels and/or something else, once you've gotten the "vanquisher of" trait?

You are right. However, he could turn his attention to the Sweboz if there are no more Gauls. ~;)

No triumphus for fighting rebels. However, there is the Corono Ovalis, if you fight a tough battle against Eleutheroi and win decisively.
