What kind of army compostion are you folks seeing for the Celtic factions?

Well dunno if the Iberians count as Celts, but I guess this might be a good place to talk about it. The Iberians seem to like their Iberian Velites quite a lot, because I've been killing stack after stack of Iberian Velites as the Karthies.

Of course they sometimes have other units like Caetreatii Loricatii, Scutarii and Curisii, but they tend to consist of about 10-15% of the Spanish armies. But this sort of seems to mostly be an early game trend, because as the game has been progressing and me constantly killing off about 10 units of them yearly, I've noticed that the amount of better units has increased. ~

I'm currently playing a normal/normal game as the Karthies and I'm in 251 BC.

I was asking for the Gallic factions and the Casse, but that is good to know too. The 3 Celtic factions are much farther along in their cost balancing than most other factions.

I always see alot of those (blasted, I can hardly remember the celtic names) basic celtic short swordsmen, the C-whatever guys, some Loguae or whatever, and boatroas (sp?). Mala Galaeous (sp?) are also pretty common, I ahrdly ever see Gesatae in Gallic faction armies, but their thick as flies in all the damn rebel cities, sometimes 2 or 3 of them!

So far, no real tough units, just alot of cannonfodder that falls before my Romans, their cavalry are tough as nails, but their infantry generally sucks.

My celtic opponents (Arverni and Aedui) seemed to have a very good composition. I haven't recorded exact composition, but they seem to have a good distribution between cavalry, infantry and missiles. Around 2-4 cavs, 2-4 sotaroas, and the rest a mix of infantry and javelinmen. The infantry was of quite low quality early on, the Arverni never fielded any gaesatae, but of the troops they had access to I think they chose the best available. The Aeudi soon fielded more gaesatae and heavier infantry, bataroas or something like that, and got tougher and tougher as the game progressed. I think these factions handle the recruiting very well, however I have some complaints about the carthaginian recruitment which, apparently just like the Iberians according to a poster above, like iberian velites a little too much. Once I faced an army with one general and 19 iberian velites...

About the Iberians, their two starting cities start of with level 3 (allied iberian tribe) governments so all they can recruit are Iberian velites, though they start of with relatively large armies of militia and scutarii, I predict that as Iberians conquer other settlements get type one and two settlements they will build better troops.

The Iberians will have proper gov'ts in the next patch so that should be sorted out.
