View Full Version : The Rules of Rebel Province Ownership?

I'm redoing the strat file for the Barebones 1.4 Map. I've been sucsessful at unifying Rome and getting rid of the Senate and Thrace. I have moved over 50 cities at this time to other ownership both faction and rebel.

Here's my problem, some provinces don't like to be in the 'Rebel Alliance'. I've ran into 4 so far that will accept faction ownership but when you give them to the rebels as soon as you click on the city icon instant CTD without an error message.

Does anybody have a clue what I should look for? I'm thinking it could be tied in with the creator or culture tags. :wall:

that is odd. never come across it crashing when you click on it...

good luck though:2thumbsup:

Is their anyway culture, creator and current faction owner, in this case slave, can be in conflict? It crashes right as you try to access the city screen from the campaign map icon. :inquisitive:

Map_regions file? Is that the exact name.

Now I have a new problem. The game fires up ok, I can look at any city without problems but after the first turn is taken everytime I pass over a certain city, Neopolis on this map, it CTD's. I've read where this can be caused by faction ownership problems. Since thats exactly what I've been doing that has to be the cause but what is the solution. I gave that city to the Julii so I'm not sure whats going on. I've put alot of hours into modding that file and it's pissing me off.

Now if by map_regions file you mean the regions.txt file in the campaign folder, then what would be the issue? I modded that one fine to setup my ZOR system and cut the farm base rate a little. Do cultures have to match in some way. Does the name of the general of your garrison have to match a list of culture specific names maybe. If that was the case it shouldn't matter for the scrolling CTD because I gave that one to the Julii and I know that name and garrison are correct. It could be the reason some of the rebel cities wouldn't take though. :wall:

No. the tga file. When modded, even correctly, it can really mess up gameplay for a while, until it is tinkered with.

I would reccomend modding the barebones first on a vanilla installation.

Then when it is 100% perfect, implement your ZOR system. that way it will be easier to tell whether or not the actual map is the problem, or an error in the ZOR system...

good luck

The ZOR system checks out fine. I played 40 or more turns with the vanilla strat file before I went to change province ownership. I've been talking with IceTorque, the Barebones map maker over at TWCenter, he thinks it might be the fact that the owners don't match in the descr regions file. I'll check that when I get home and update this post then. I wouldn't know how to mod a TGA file anyway.

Thanks for your help.

New Update, IceTorque just led me out of the quicksand. It seems, and everybody else probably knows this but me, that all references of the deposed factions must be removed from the culture and creator lines in the regions file and strat file respectively or you get scrolling crashes. I'll have to check if thats in the CTD guide or not.
