Haven't heard if anyone has succeeded in doing any of the special missions in the game so far. There is at least one for: Romans, Pontos, Aedui, Epeiros, Seleukids, Makedon, and some similar elements can show up if you do certain things for Baktria or Pahlava.
Just wondering if anyone has succeeded in any of them.
But warning - don't read any further if you don't want to hear about anyone else's experiences with them.
Yeah the Baktrian independence script is working.. nice one. id imagine pontos / pahlav is somewhat similar. Working on getting triumph for roman general right now.

Is the "special mission" for Pontos the taking of the city in Crimaea (Chernonessos ?) in this case I think I have failed...when I get the message I planned to rescue these guys but when my fleet and my army were ready the :furious3: :furious3: Seleucids launched a big attack on me...so the operation was cancelled...it has been several years since I get the message so I don't know if I could try to make it now ?

What year is it in your game? You probably still have time, if you hurry! :sweatdrop:

I don't know if this is a "mission" really, but it sure was a nice reward :2thumbsup:

I'm also curious as to whether anyone has had some success with olympic participants. No one has said much about that.
I always have horrible luck with mine. Embarassment after embarassment. I guess I've not tried getting my guys out in a battle or something after the first message that says they can participate. :laugh4: Maybe they won't wind up competing then.

I've gotten conqueror of Carthage and conqueror of the Galli (or something like that), but not been called Imperator yet, but that's mainly because I've already eliminated Arverni and Aedui and don't want a war with the powerful Sweboz, and the progress in Africa has slowed down. So I don't think the missions are too difficult (not too easy either), it's my playing style that has prevented me from pursuing them further.

It's 226, but now I can't to dit because I'm at war with Seleucids and Koinon Hellenon so I cannot afford to send an army far away...

Speaking of the Olympics, I'm 14 years or so into my KH campaign, and have yet to get a single message regarding this. I do have a couple of young generals sitting around, so I wonder if there are any other requirements?

TA,
I have had one Olympic competitor in my campaign as KH.
He also was embarassed.
I was really looking forward to winning, but...

They need to be "Vigorous" (very vigorous, actually), not under siege or sieging, with most of their movement remaining,

Yeah the Baktrian independence script is working.. nice one.
Yeah, I've noticed that too, and I'm hoping that when I'm finally at peace with the Seleukids I get some kind of special message too. But I'm locked in a permanent state of war with them since then, almost 30 years of continuous struggle ( that's something that annoys me a lot in RTW, sometimes you're smacking down the AI and only want to make peace with them, but they keep refusing it... :wall: )
I've not had any olympic general yet, but I guess with Baktria it'd be pretty difficult anyway.

Well, I was playing(and I am still playing) as Seleukids, and got a message, to rescue our allies from Kyrene, because the Ptolemaioi were attacking the city.
Sent a spy over there immediately, but I find out that it's a rebel city.
Something else.
Well, I got a message "Strategos" to rescue the tomb of Megas Alexandros.

A rebel allied city. Just like the KH allied rebel cities.
Well, I got a message "Strategos" to rescue the tomb of Megas Alexandros.
There's a mission for ya.

As DA said, the rebel city is allied to you.
Something else.

If you know where the tomb is, send an army to rescue it ~D

That message probably had something like this at the end of it?
To complete the mission to return Megas Alexandros to his ancestral home, this general must destroy the gaudy tomb in Alexandreia, remain there through the end of his turn to prepare the body for transport, and then journey to Pella and spend a season there.

Well, not exactly "missions", but you know those posts the Hellenistic factions get assigned? (Director of Public Works, for instance, I forgot the Greek name.)
I've failed miserably at those. Almost every single one of my family members who've been assigned those posts has failed, now they're all Failed or Corrupted <postname here>.
Except one guy, who was is a Successful <Director of Trade?>. I think it gives him a management point, and five percent bonus on trade income. That same guy also went to the Olympics and fell flat on his face. :sweatdrop:
But, I haven't noticed any missions for the Ptolemaioi.

I have succesfully conquered the two esatern provinces requested by the King of Epeiros (playing as the Aedui). I have been delighted in seeing a stack of Epeirotes' troops helping me with BOTH sieges. Is there any form of reward (aside from tjhe two cities themselves)?

They help you take two provinces and ally with you, so that's about all we thought we should give as a reward. Very glad to hear it worked out well in an actual full campaign though! Kudos!!

Yes, I think two cities as a reward are more than enough ;)
It was really fun and well implemented, I hope to see more of those "missions" in the future releases...keep up the good job

I got this message when my Baktrian king conquered Opiana, one of the Indian cities:

Very nice indeed, I think this kind of special messages and interaction with the player was one of the things that was sorely lacking in vanilla RTW.

i'm pretty sure that in my roman campaign i achieved getting my best general named as imperator, (he had conqueror of carthago and 8 or 9 influence already) but every time i win a decisive victory with him, the game ctds. I'll go back and try again later, but i dont have time now to fight off a full stack of experienced carthaginian skirmishers and generals.
