View Full Version : The seasons tooltip
Any way to get it so that all the seasons will be visible at their appropriate times when you scroll over the little sun or snowflake? As of now it's still only Summer and Winter. It'd be easier for quick checking rather than opening up a family members scroll.

No. We'd have done it already for sure.

If you're not opening up at least one of your family member's scrolls every turn, you're not playing right, dang it! :furious3: I didn't do all that work for nothing. :wall:
I think I'm going to faint. :dizzy2:
No, seriously, you might be missing out on some good stuff, not checking out the traits more often. :book:

There are traits?
You're on a roll today.

Don't fret Malrubius! I LOVE the traits system and absolutely check every turn. I was just saying for example if I want to quickly check the season while not currently having a character scroll open, I could do so. Why I'm even planning on putting together a little story based on the traits of a particular character in my campaign.
On a related note, is it possible to remove the seasons tooltip all together? Just the graphic of the sun or snowflake itself would be left of course, but when you scroll over, it won't say anything. It won't be everything, but at least it won't be wrong.

Yeah, go to Data\text\tooltips.txt, and edit these lines:
{TMT_SEASON_SUMMER} Summer
{TMT_SEASON_WINTER} Winter
to maybe something like this:
{TMT_SEASON_SUMMER} Spring, Summer or Fall
{TMT_SEASON_WINTER} Winter
Awesome. If I just delete those lines, will there be any problems or will nothing happen if I scroll over the graphic?

You'll probably mess up all the tooltips below those in the file. That's how we got the "died of the plague" bug. The game was looking for something and didn't find it, so it just got it from the next line. And so on... "Born" is just above "Died of the Plague".
Heh heh, ironic. All righty then, I'll just put Kill/Don't Kill...... not really but whatever. Suppose it could be left blank then.

Leaving it blank might cause a problem. That's what happened to cause the "died of the plague" bug.
Oh dang, thought that was if it was completely deleted. Oh well. Thanks anyways Malru.

[QUOTE=Malrubius]
is it possible to have some freak weather ?
maybe a longer winter in fall or spring or no winter at all
there must have been times when this happend
- also affecting the harvest ?

On a totally unrelated note, Malrubius, can you elaborate a bit on the forced marching trait? I'm getting a *little* peeved at having armies being completely stationary for a turn because there's someone in there with 'forced marching' or 'tired' or something like that... I've already had to cut generals loose from my two Baktrian armies for turns at a time in order to preserve the momentum of an offensive... (and I've lost one to a Seleukid attack in my rear)
(But it's fun and a pleasant surprise nevertheless.) :D
Not to mention, I love EB's economic difficulties. At least now the enemy can -actually- infiltrate my rear :D Happy! At last there is some real strategic challenge, because I can't have armies on all fronts.

Our scripters are working on something for harvests, but not to make a 6-month winter or spring. It would be a lot of work to deal with the hard-code and the 4tpy script for something that would be very very rare.

If your general uses almost all his movement (90% or more), it will take effect. Like the Bored trait, I should probably make some adjustments.
