Gorgeous George Galloway is in the Big Brother House! Wow, I was amazed when I caught the end of the program last night and underneath that umbrella was wir man George! Of course, he has been slated left, right, and centre for it...
Auntie Provides... (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4587448.stm)
Our worst export-product next to XTC and Vengaboys
Just the sort of theatre that Galloway loves! I wonder whether it will work for him politically. It is funny to hear all those politicians (and Helen Mirren ffs) lambasting him for it. They don't seem to realise that Galloway doesn't care what they think of him, only that he may get a few more votes. They also don't seem to realise that people like politcos who annoy the mainstream political establishment.
PS
I thought that BBC article included too much commentary from Galloway's election opponents.

Some people find it incredibly exciting to watch celebrities (I use the term VERY loosely) sitting in a house arguing 24/7.

Isn't George Galloway a Member Of Parliament ? I'd be pretty pissed off if my elected representitive decided to shirk his responsibilities by hanging around in a house, cut off from the outside world, surrounded by C-List celebrities.

You are so lucky.
It is about totally uninteresting people living together in a house filled with camara's, and you can watch them be unintersting 24/7, great huh? Every week someone has to leave, and you the viewer can make a *cell phone text message* for a modest amount of way too much to say who has to get the hell out. Not that it helps whoever you want to fork of because it has all been decided already but people still fall for it. We had a pregnant women this time for crying out loud, I am still waitint for the terminally deseased version or the gay11th with one HIV-patient.

Not at all. All it shows is that one politician, George Galloway, is an idiot and a terrible MP. Virtually every other MP is calling on Galloway to leave, as is much of the public. Indeed, the government's chief whip has started a petition calling to George Galloway to come back and start representing his constituency.

Hmm. Who has the most CCTV cameras, with plans to build a national network of them? In which country can you get a court order to stop someone from doing a legal activity, and throw them in jail if they don't stop? In which country can the executive control the press? In which country can you own most any gun you want?
I'm glad (and not surprised) everyone wants GGG to return to his real job. Does anyone think this'll hurt his chances for reelection?

In answer to your questions...
Britain has the most CCTV cameras, althought they don't exactly harm our freedom.
I'm not entirely sure which court order you're referring to here...
I'm not sure which incident(s) of executive control of the press you are talking about, but America ranks below the UK on the Reporters sans frontieres 2005 list of press freedom. Link (http://www.rsf.org/rubrique.php3?id_rubrique=554)
And I'm very glad that guns are as controlled as they are in Britain.

I would imagine so. He was elected (narrowly) solely because of his anti-war stance. Now that the people of Bethnal Green and Bow have made their protest, I suspect they'll realise what a terrible representative he is for them. Unfortunately, the next general election probably won't be until 2009.

acting like an idiot on tv > being indicted on multiple criminal charges (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_DeLay)
drinking from milk bowl > being indicted on five felony charges (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lewis_Libby)
appearing on an ignoble tv show > appearing on a lenghty list of criminal activities (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Abramoff)

America's Political Atmosphere isn't as tense as Parliament, thats why so many politicians are corrupt, because someone isn't eyeing them all the time. Now I'm not saying Parliament isn't corrupt either, theres just less of a chance, and when it does happen it's not nearly as big of a deal. When an American Politician who has been found of corruption is uncovered then the **** Really hits the fan.
Unfortunately our masses have stagnated so much over the years, that when something such as NSA spying, or the Abramoff Scandal Happen...nobody is really pissed off, it's like we're so disillusioned because we know our government is going down the tube and we don't care anymore because we think nothing can change that. He only got in in his east end majority Asian majority muslim seat because the Labour MP Oona King was (1) black (2) supported the invasion of iraq and (3) was a rubbish lightweight careerist Blair Babe MP. Georgeous won't be troubling the House of Commons after the next election.
Funnily enough my sense of self respect, and my opinion of the UK, never rested all that much on Georgeous behaving like a dignified and responsible politician. Though I am surprised he managed to make such an enormous political miscalculation as appearing on this freak show.

An interesting bit from the eeeevil Fox news:
Outspoken British politician George Galloway defied the U.S. Congress thus furthering his standing as a darling of the anti-war left, but his decision to join the cast of the British reality show "Celebrity Big Brother" has backfired, even according to Galloway's press adviser — who admits the TV appearance has turned into a "worst-case scenario."
So far on the month-long series, Galloway has hidden in a cardboard box, dressed up like a vampire and crawled across the floor on all fours like a cat, pretending to lick milk from the hands of a former TV star.
Galloway agreed to appear in order to publicize his political message. But his adviser says producers have censored Galloway's political statements, citing British broadcasting laws that mandate equal TV time for opposing views.

Wednesday January 25, 2006
Telegraph faces £1.5m legal bill
by Claire Cozens
The Daily Telegraph is facing a bill of nearly £1.5m after the appeal court ruled its claims that George Galloway personally profited from Saddam Hussein's regime were "seriously defamatory". Appeal court judge Sir Anthony Clark said it was "not in dispute" that the documents found by the Telegraph in Baghdad were of great interest to the public.
But he said the Telegraph crossed the line when it suggested Mr Galloway had taken money for personal gain, rather than for political and charitable purposes.
Etcetera (http://media.guardian.co.uk/site/story/0,,1694590,00.html)
I doubt he is a crook, although I also suspect some of Saddam's money did go to some people close to him (his friend or his charity). But I do think he is a thug who likes to hang out with vile people, as his stint in the Big Brother house has vividly shown UK viewers.
But he said the Telegraph crossed the line when it suggested Mr Galloway had taken money for personal gain, rather than for political and charitable purposes.
So, had they said he had taken bribes for political and charitable purposes instead of personal gain it would've been ok? ~

Yep but they didn't , as if they had written about the charity and political programs then it would't be a scandal .
So instead of writing about a non-scandalous issue they invented a scandalous one .
Silly buggers , the Telegraph used to be a fairly decent newspaper , biased to the right of course , but still fairly comprehensive with its news and views .

Hats off to the Telegraph though. With so much material to throw at Georgie, picking something that doesn't stand up was quite a feat.
Happily, George is far too marginal to be worth having a serious opinion about. I wish people would just ignore him. Its like picking fights with creationists, he's just not worth the steel of any rational person.
Why are Margaret Hodge, Geoof Hoon, Patricia Hewitt (etc etc cont p94) so completely inadequate, and why are a similar crowd of nonentities our only alternative, now THAT is a worry.
