I was wondering if anyone else has noticed the price to rearm your troops?

I was retrained a unit Luece Epos and it cost me about 2/3 of their price new. The next turn, all that changed was they received a bronze shield for the armor increase. I think it added one point to my defense stat. I don't remember what the cost was in Vanilla, but for 2/3, I woul rather just buy a new unit and leave the first to garrison or something.

Was this just overlooked in EB, or was it intentional? (I have come to realize there was very little that was "overlooked")

As far as I know the game calculates that cost.

More expirienced troops cost more in terms of highring.
At first i hated that in RTW retrained troops keeps they exp level.
But then i saw that they also costs more to retrain so its not all that bad.

woh, woh, woh. WHAT? ~

So: A unit, with 2 gold chevrons, whittled down to 8 soldiers, if retrained will give me a FULL UNIT of 2 gold chevron whatevers? :inquisitive:

I thought that CA said the soldiers expericen was calculated on a per-soldier basis?!

You mean that I have been combining these experienced soldiers into other experienced units for NOTHING?

I must be confused. :help:

Experience is calculated per soldier, I believe. But retraining trains the new soldiers at the average of the unit, which is represented by the chevrons. Instead of adding 72 green soldiers to a unit with 8 veterans, you're added 72 vets to a unit of 8. Some people consider retraining an exploit, and think you should recruit new units and merge to be fair (AI doesn't retrain).

Gory details here, I think:

and on experience, in general, here:

Ah, the Ludus Magna, the reason I joined the Org!

The cost to upgrade weapons/armor is determined by EDU, however.

Yes Sim, I know that, but that was not the question. Plus at the moment they are absurdly low in EB.

they are not that low, Qwerty, as they give only +1 to attack and defence

They are very low compared both to every other unit cost in the game and to the difference that +1 attack and +1 defense provides. Considering the stats/cost system (which I wrote a lot of) the cost to upgrade armor and weapons is comically low. I just haven't gotten around to addressing it yet.

It's about hundred minai for most of the units, over two hundred for cav, as they are given "two or none", remember that if they would be higher it would benefit to wait and build unit in a town with upgrade (which is free).

According to the EDU most units are under 100. :book:

Ahh, that must have been the problem. I have highly experienced Leuce Epos units and perhaps I had a few missing. It did cost me 1000 Mnai on Large settings, however I think the other units were around 100 or less.

Thanks for the response

BTW A.I. does retrain, it just doesn't disband.

If you add weapon and armour cost, the lowest are about 70 there a lot of over 100, some even over 200.

Adding is necesity, as buildings give both or none, if you are not retrainig units with missle type weapon.

Ah, your adding them together. Still, they are too low relative to the rest of the system, probably by about 50%.
