All EB Fans;

I'm in love with this game. Not only RTW, but this mod EB. It is sweet as all get out. It's the sweetest mod I've ever played. However, I'm am sorry to report that every single campaign I have ever played has crashed. I haven't seen hardly anything in this mod before a crash. I've played the Romans, Selueucids, Ptolamoi, far east Chinese types, Swezebos, Casses...all ending in an irreversible crash to desktop (or worse) within 20 or 30 turns. I don't think I've ever made it to 30 turns.

I'm not complaining. I know it's a beta. The only reason I'm writing is because the mod is so awesome I anticipate the final. I'm more bummed that others are getting to see Triumphs (or almost) and Olympic games, etc, and I have gone only so far as to go into extreme debt.

Normally, the game CTDs immediately after a battle. At which time I reload at the auto save, only to have the same thing happen.

Again fellas, I'm not complaining, just venting. I EAGERLY anticipate the arrival of the final. Kudos to making such a sweet mod, the betas worth playing even through the crashes. So...keep pluggin away! I will download and sing your praises immediately!

Well, among other things, a lot of people have been reporting varying conditions. The mod really seems to work differently for different people ~D

I can't do anything about the crashes...sorry, that's unfortunate. I'm going to start on my 4th campaign, and thankfully, I have never experienced a CTD (I'm restarting because of poor economic desicions :sweatdrop:)

For debt, however, you should disband your naval fleet and your starting army, depending on if you wish to hurry up and conquer something, or just chill out and settle affairs within your own borders.

Read some of the EB guides, they might be of help.

Oh, and are you activating the background script every time you reload a game? That's extremely important.

I had several CTDs playing the romans after a few years into the game but in the greek campaing the CTDs occur every 2-3 years at end turn. Frustrating but expectable in a beta. Great mod and know it'll be even better. :2thumbsup:

Hi my first post here :)

I seem to always get more often CTD:s between 250-240BC with romans. I restarted a new campaign after i read in other forum about changing some things in unit/building and on campaign map to go around the crash.

Actually it has so far worked every time i thought oh no now im screwed again.

It has not even taking so long time to exclude the error maybe im lucky so far.
What ive done to prevent new crashes (often 2-3 tries) is the following:

Breaking a siege when 1 turn left = no crash :idea2:
A units goto "red line" on map shortened or go elsewhere = no crash
Stop road building from being finished one time = no crash

I think there is more things i have done maybe 5 times and now i have played after 240-220 something without a crash :juggle2:

So its possible to play atleast i think so.:book: (romans)

Then i played with casse and other civs too but at that time i didnt know about changing these "things" so they were shortlived...

Hopefully some of you can try my tips and get helped by it.

The fact that it crashes at different degrees for different people.. could this be linked to the fact that people have different set ups in game?

For example, could it be related to the graphics configuration? Unit-sizes?

Ive got huge army setting with almost max in everything... my load times are short maybe 5-10 seconds more than RTW. I forgot to adjust the settings first time i played and had Large unit size but it was the same - some random CTD:s.

My specs: AMD Athlon FX-57, 2GB Geil Ram, 2 7800GT

Well all, thanks for your symathy! I am glad that some of you are experiencing smooth running campaigns. Mine go pretty good until that one event.

Interesting point about the different user settings. I use large sized units, but most everything else is standard. M/M is my setting until I get used to a mod, so that's what I'm using too.

Oh, I pretty much always disband my fleet if I have one. I had no debt problem with the Romani, but some of the Barbarian tribes that only start with one region give me fits.

Again, let me state that I'm am stoked beyond all reasoning for this mod in its final edition! The features you folks have included are wonderous. I hope you don't take my venting for complaining. I'm gonna give it another go around with another faction. But who...?

VH/M is probably the best setting to play it. That way rebels are aggressive but the AI doesn't get stat boasts in battle that will have people yelling at me about levies defeating semi-professional troops and so on.

I find that loading up on the turn that it crashes, and not turning on the script until you're past the crash point (then turn it on) avoids the repititious crashes - though who knows what other bad things happen with the script off for that turn.

Actually, you don't have to turn off the script. Just load it up and turn off fow and go through the whole turn like that. You should turn the script on before ending the turn though so everything remains as it should. It has worked for me 100% of the time so far. Just keep the "follow ai" option on. It takes a while, but it's cool, you can see what exactly is going on in the world that turn.

my compaign always crushes at 255 I think no matter who I pick but I after I reload and continue it goes smooth. The other issue I have experienced is when the game jumps from 247 bc to 14 ad after that turn it says I have lost and then I click continue to play and I'm back to 246 BC :inquisitive:

I get random CTD's sometimes whenever I end turn. Just after it saves I assume - because I can just reload and continue from the exact same point.

Like Wandarah I get CTDs, randomly, but in general maybe every 20 turns, but reload and play on - they almost never repeat at the same place.

My problem is that my Romani campaign I always get the defeat message appearing Ill have to check the year but - its a very short campaign if Im supposed to have captured 50 provinces by say as many turns, first time (15 province game) I though "oh well it was a short campaign but the AI factions mustve beat me to it, but surely not the 50 province game ???

Or is there some other requirement like capture a certain city that Im not doing?

things were just getting interesting

My problem is that my Romani campaign I always get the defeat message appearing...

The defeat message is a hardcoded remnant from vanilla and is irrelevant. Also, the vanilla victory conditions are irrelevant. Check the "[Faction] Victory Conditions" trait on your faction leader for relevant victory conditions.

Wierd... assume it's a quantum leap.
