The Camillian Triarii comes with the "phalanx mode" now, but isn't it equipped in the 'old hoplite fashion'? Isn't that suggestive of the overarm style instead of the "phalanx mode"?

By the way, Botroas seems to be too cheap for its stats; 1155 for 50 men, with 10 atk at 0.22 lethality, and 15 overall defense. Sahsnotoz are almost double the cost per man with only +1atk/+2 defense.

It's not balanced completely on stats, iron was far less common amongst the germanics, thus they pay more for units with longswords and armor, and generally have less units with it. The Gauls on the other hand produced lots of longswords, so they're cheaper and more common.

Ah, I've forgotten about the Germanics being iron poor, well I guess that makes sense. Thanks for the reply.

By the way, is it possible to put the unit's lethality rate in the unit's description, since its rather confusing with all that differing lethality rates. Also, some units like the Germanic lancemens have attack delay unlike most other units, could that be stated down in the description as well?

We can't add it to the list of stats, I guess it might be possible to but in it the actual text.

I am loving those barbarian naked guys with the huge swords

Ive come up against them in my early expansion to the north as Romani

they have chewed through some serious numbers of my men - they are tough lil SOBs

for the first time ever playing rome I have had to THINK about how to deal with an enemy unit

thankyou

how do you come to this lethality figure?

All the unit stats are saved inside this export_descr_unit.txt file in the 'data' folder of RTW.

Maybe you should change the "Description" to the "Additional informations" in the stats screen and place the lethality thing there?

Example:

Stats...

Abilities at a glance...

Additional informations

Weapon lethality: high

UNIT DESCRIPTION...

Yeah we could probably do that. I'll try to get it added to the next patch.

You raise a good point here, which applies to all non-Greek hoplites. Just how far had Iphikrate's reforms spread? They were in a response to the use of peltasts and if other nations had not had similar experiences would they have changed?

Other nations that have hoplites include Rome, Carthage, and to an extent certain phalanx based units that barbarians had.
