Hey all,

Thanks so much to everyone who helped ATW win the HOF 2005 Minimod award!

With both the American Civil War and the American War for Independence, the ATW mod for MTW is great fun, and I hope you all take a few minutes to install it and give it a try; especially in MP it is wicked fun!:) With dozens of new units, factions, BEAUTIFUL maps, music, and even all new buildings, ATW the only MP game for both of these fantastic periods of history.

I'm trying ATW for the first time but there's a problem. I alread had NTW1 installed, so I made a copy of it for ATW. I installed ATW, then the music pack, converted and everything. Menu and everything was fine, but when I tried a custom battle, after setting everything up, it crashes to desktop during the load screen. Any ideas?

-edit-

Problem solved. It was a matter of unit sizes. I had it on huge which takes it over the limits, on default works fine. Excellent.

Now the question is, where or how do I play others online with this mod?

if it had a single player campaign I would take it without a second thought but the site says it doesn't :wall: :embarassed:

You'd be surprised at how fun it is even without SP campaign. You can fight custom battles and online, so it's worth a try at least. Lots of fun for me.

Howdy guys!

Yes, unfortuantely there is no campaign... to be 100 percent honest, the AI has a hard time with gunpowder units, which should stand and fight at times and stand and shoot at times...

Please do join us in MP tho... the NTW/ATW community is a VERY mature one, always enjoying taking new players in for a game or twenty:) The American War for Independence era in particular benefits from MP, as a skillful American commander can use the fast yet fragile American force as a skirmish force par excellence, whereas the British commander has to carefully screen his troops with lights and cavalry so the main body arrives at combat at full effectiveness. The American Civil War era too benefits from having a real person at the command, as Sharpshooters try to kill off cannon crew, Zouaves defend where the fighting is fierce, and the most famed regiments of the war, such as the Irish Brigade, the Stonewall Brigade, and a host of other units fight with intelligent ferocity. Plus, you havent used cavalry until you ride into range, dismount in combat, pour some HELLISH fire into your opponents flank, and then jump back in the saddle and gallop off... and then do that four or five times!

Anyway, grab MSN messenger and go ahead and add me gpandsean@yahoo.com and I will be happy to give you the names of about 100 ATW/NTW players, as well as personally set you up a few games with some other players who dont mind just showing folks the ropes.

I cannot recommend the gunpowder mods (ATW, NTW) with any greater passion; the mix of the traditional cavalries, the mixed function musketeers, the back and forth of the superior skirmishing, and artillery that can be moved around the board in-game (thank god for limbers!) really makes for a superior gaming experience:)

Thanks!
