A question concerning sabotage, I am up to my neck in hot water at war with the Germans playing as the Romans. They have just destroyed my ability to recruit all Roman troops in two main cities it takes about 9 years to rebuild which leaves me with just Rome to produce troops. Now I may be just bitching because I was caught on the hop but it does seem slightly excessive that sabotage can remove a substantial ability for the Romans to produce and retrain troops for nine years.
Edit: If they get Rome I’ll be fighting with my Diplomats

They destroyed the buildings completely? Amazing! Good to see the AI conducting espionage.
I didn't do anything to make AI spies or assassins better than the player's, so I can't take credit. :shame: This is where generals with good public security traits come in handy, I guess.

Strange, I've only ever had buildings get up to 100% damage but never completely destroyed. Any amount of damage is usually repaired in 0 turns...

Nice to see the AI isn't sitting with its hands under its arse.
But this is a bit over the top, I agree. I wonder what kind of sabotage efforts could halt the training of troops! If it was artillery production it's a different matter. But when you sabotage the training of troops, you have to go about killing every soldier in his sleep or something? Makes no sense.

A lot of things in RTW don't make sense.

The only reason I do is it's one of my favorite songs of all time. But it is (checking album cover) from a 12 year old song...

I think this should be looked at again a 100% damage is to much it curtails the ability to produce troops and because the way EB develops its military once the building is destroyed you do not fall back to lesser quality troops but none! It was two Fabricae Armaturiae costing 9000 and 12 turns. I think this is important so I’ll bump it up to the front. Incidentally on the next turn two more economical buildings in two different cities were then damaged. In fact it was a game breaker because of the situation I found myself in I could not recover five cities were besieged, Rome itself was the only city that could produce quality troops and my economy was stuffed.
I would consider this a learning process, which I then exploited in a new game my assassin seemed to have the unerring ability to destroy particularly military buildings 100% preventing the AI capabilities to produce troops, I like to expand Rome slowly so enemies have a chance to build up however in the second game I rapidly expanded ignoring most improvements and I find myself nearly in the same situation as the first game but about 40 years earlier with no credible threat. I suppose this helps if playing as another faction (you can end up facing a powerful Rome).
The first game was extremely enjoyable and amazingly accurate powerful enemies to the north (Germans Arverni), a powerful Greece to the east and a barely subdued Sicily to the south it was no easy task to move into these areas out of Italy. However the sabotage which I was not prepared for crippled my forces out of all proportion to what one would expect historically.
Finally one question to be sure, in areas were I seem to have all the prerequisites to build Roman troops I cant is this not working properly yet.
