As far as I know, you never flew to London to take a picture of Jag's flat and posted it here for us to laugh at, or have you Dave?
Just one more sad example of America's favorite 'get rich quick' scheme, the lawsuit. It's a crying shame we don't have the law that the UK does that when you sue somebody, and it's clearly BS, you have to pay all legal fees for the defendant.

i can't wait until a court of law upholds a ban is not cruel and unusual punishement.

That would do FAR more to deter nuisance suits etc. than would some artificial cap on damages and the like.

Some states have enabled it, but it's not very widespread. Television commercials from lawyers (barristers) even advertise that way:
Have you been injured? Doesn't matter if it was your fault... let's sue them! If we win, I get half. If we lose, you don't pay a dime. Honestly, how can plaintiffs say no to a deal like that. Even when they're to blame!

The funny thing is the fact that you could win.

I got sued in small claims court for $125 bucks.
My wife borrowed a tile saw from her neighbor/friend, who also happened to be a "bottom" in a homosexual relationship with an abusive guy with little dog syndrom. The saw was rusty, poorly maintained, and of poor quality.
While my father-in-law used it to cut tile for our house, a small plastic piece that was irrelevant to operation broke off.
I gave it back to him some time after we were done using it and had forgotten about the plastic piece. 2 weeks later he demanded that we replace the entire crappy old saw.
I told him that I would happily pay to replace the part and that if he got the information from the company, I would write him a check.
Instead he took me to court for the value of the saw plus court fees.
The dumb-*** self importand judge figured he would be cute and say "neither a lender nor borrower be".
I lost and now I have a judgment against my credit (I paid the guy within a week).
The tort/suit system in America is a heaving sweating stinking pile of crap.

I like how he's gonna get countersued for 125k, if this doesnt get thrown out in summary judgement I bet the dork backs down at the prospect of being countersued for legal fees. Civil court sucks for people who dont have money to throw at lawyers, I'd say court appointed attorneys for poor defendents but that would mean more attorneys.

It would help if lawyers couldn't do this. They should work for a certain cost all the time unless they decide to make it charity before filing the suit. The amount of get-rich-quick suits would certainly drop if the lawyer couldn't claim a percentage of the loot. :idea2:
Hmm. How many lawyers are able to influence your lawmakers? How many lawyers ARE among your lawmakers, for that matter?

Good question.
What we really need to do is give the lawyers guns and send them to invade Iran....

Gillespie, 53, claims that Marlowe and Bob Charpentier, a 52-year-old Oregon resident, insulted him and harassed him in the AOL chatroom called "Romance — Older Men" to the point where it inflicted "severe emotional distress and physical injury that is of a nature no reasonable man could be expected to endure it."
Physical injury? Like, how?

Sore ribs from crying like a horomonal teenage girl all day and all night, I suppose. :laugh4:
You know, I just realized, this guy cannot possibly know anybody in real life. Would you ever be able to face your friends/mates after having your name associated with a lawsuit like this? "They hurt my feelings by laughing at me in an online chatroom?"
I think I'd be forced to beat up any friend of mine that I knew involved with something like this.... as a favor to him! Get that testoserone flowing again! Fight Club, baby!
Well at least they revealed their identities. I understand that it's now a felony to "annoy" someone online anonymously. :inquisitive:
