first off, hi to my fellow Total War fans. i hope i can be of as much use to you as you hopefully will be to me :dizzy2:
anyways, i just recently bought barbarian invasion to play it but also because i lost my RTW cds and really want to play it again. i tried to install it but it comes up with an error saying
"No prior installation of Rome: Total War was found. This installation program will now terminate."
even though i have RTW installed. so i used my awesome brain power [jk] to realise that the registry keys for RTW arent in the registry (where did they go? =0 [jk]). this would most likely be because i recently formatted my C drive and RTW is installed on another drive. i can still play RTW with a no cd patch but i cant reinstall it because i lost the cds.
so what im asking is if anyone could be so kind enough to post the neccesary registry keys for RTW so i can create them myself (its hard to believe but yes i do know what im doing) and get BI installed.
Bestbuy sells the RTW registry keys for 39.99

Hi broken arrow......just wanted to say welcome to the org...hope you enjoy being involved.
We may not cross threads a lot.....I'm into MTW-Vi and STW-MI .....but I definitely want to check RTW out when I get more grunt in my computer, or get a brand new one.
Hey I wonder if posted a thread - "High-end coputer system needed by wannabe RTW player" do ya reckon I might get given one?????????????????
Another thread could then follow...."Matrixman celebrates miracle"
Oh well...enough of my fantasies...all the best

Try this.
Uninstall fully.
go find the folders where tw is
Delete the folder and its contents
Run a registry cleaner.
And then follow the registry Cleaning instructions in this thread...
https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=43162
That should clear out ALL RTW instalation entrys.
then you can re install.
and then install bi..
Hope it helps.
"p.s"

Hello broken shadow welcome to the Org ~
I'm sorry you lost your R:TW CD's. In the Forum rules, we have specific prohibitions against content about no-cd hacks, registry keys and the like:
..Posts containing addresses of warez sites or anything piracy-related; note that this includes "hacks" designed to enable Shogun: Total War or Medieval: Total War to run without a CD. The administration is aware of the fact that some use a "no-CD hack" for the perfectly legal purpose of enchancing their system performance, but we feel that the possible illegal benefits from these hacks outweight the legal ones. Anything pertaining to software piracy is in general highly discouraged.
Posts containing information on and/or requests for the Shogun: Total War or Medieval: Total War CD key codes; if someone has actually lost his CD key, he should ask about the matter from Electronic Arts Customer Support. Anyone asking for someone else's here is assumed to be a pirate trying to deny the game's developers their rightful compensation for this work...
So, sadly, no one here will be able to assist you in solving your problem.
The only solution seems to be either:
1) Find the lost CD's
2) buy a new copy
