I was reading some faction intro's on https://www.europabarbarorum.com/factions.html and a few times I saw the word "unite" mentioned, and then it occurred to me that sometimes the best way to make people unite isn't to smash down their settlements defencive walls, slaughter their warriors and exterminate their population, but to actually talk them into cooperating with you to achieve greater goals than you would achieve on your own.

This is where the diplomat comes in, now the diplomat seems to be able to get playable factions to trade with you become your allies or you can bribe a settlement into becoming your own, but you can't really seem to do that with rebel settlements, unfortunatly though in this mod the rebel settlements represent mini unplayable factions, and not just well... pesky rebel towns run by a local strong man or war lord.

Would it be possible to edit the game in such a way that it would become possible for diplomats to convince surrounding towns, perhaps of a similar culture or who have a common enemy to join you? and thus allow you to control the settlement? also, if there was a king or general etc within that settlement, perhaps it could also be possible for him to join your family, or maybe it could be possible for one faction to have multiple family trees, depending on how many families you've talked into working with you.

Things like that would be pretty ideal for the mod, because when I was playing the Casse it was a bit of a shame that I had to conquer the British isles by force and basically kill all these fine young warriors that could have been put to use against some greater enemy had it been possible to convince the towns noblemen to form an allience.

I've suggested before that it would also be pretty awesome if you could allow your diplomats to hire mercenaries.

I guess what i'm trying to get at is that the diplomat has a great deal of potential, and I'm pretty sure that more abilities for diplomats would add to the realism and historical accuracy of an already highly realistic and historically accurate mod.

I need to sneeze...

H-h-h-h-h....HARDCODE!

Excuse me.

But yes, there's no way to represent this outside of bribery. Diplomacy is hardcoded, unfortunately...
