may i ask what the campaign map is looking like at the moment?
btw, although probably a moot point to bring up at this late date, but i learned today that RTR is using a map with tilted axis, allowing them to forego the less significant western sahara and exteme siberian provinces while still including the upper nile. i just thought it was a great idea - maybe it would still be useful for you guys? might help to free up province slots to include more regions from the historically more populated regions such as eastern mediterranean.

I'v heard EB members say that the provinces in the northern steppe are simply too important for factions like the sarmatians for them to leave out.
Personally, I like having the Sahara in, in fact frankly, the bigger the map the better. It doesnt seem that the desert areas bring in any money really, so I'm happy for factions like the carthaginians to control them.
Anyway, the maps is fantastic, with loads of detail that really brings it alive, such as high plateaus being snowy in winter while lowland river areas dont get snow.
Res Gestai is another map that seems to be using the tilted map, however, and it looks fantastic. Maybe when Prometheus releases it someone will port his map onto EB or something and you'll be able to play EB without the Saharan provinces. I don't know.
Anyhow, EB's map is for me the best map I'v ever seen, so I'm happy.

There are no big changes on the books for the map right now. There are discussions about some changes on the northeast corner, but nothing certain right now. A couple of guys are always working on map tweaks though - correcting rivers, snow lines, land types, etc.

The titled axis was actually first proposed within EB, and we decided not to go that route because it messes up the Steppe.

interesting. do you happen to have a link to the discussion of that? btw, what is so vital about losing that small corner of the steppes (and western sahara)? just wondering - not trying to criticize.

It's somewhere in the restricted forum...our steppe people won't let us take away that part of the steppe, you actually lose a lot of it and apparently it was rather important land.
