LOL, Hillary at a black Baptist Church (so much for seperation of Church and State, well unless you're a Democrat) says, “When you look at the way the House of Representatives has been run, it has been run like a plantation and you know what I'm talking about...". Oh boy. The only plantation I see from the Democratic Party is the contuation of portraying blacks as unable to take care of themselves unless their Masters, the democratric party, continues to provide programs that will never build up the black community and only make it more reliant on the government. What a joke. I'm sure most would disagree with me and call me a racist, but who is the real racist hear? Her for telling blacks that they can't make in America without the welfare state or me telling blacks they can't make it in America without self respect and reliance? Your opinions please.

I'm not real sure what parallels she's drawing up by saying the HOR is like a plantation. She's a Senator, not a rep, so she's probably talking about the way districts are drawn up, not sure really.
I think a "gay bath house" or a "school for the retarded" would have been a better description, but she's probably saving those for another speech somewhere.

Interesting , what is the full quote ? both the video and the transcript stop at ....
When you look at the way the House of Representatives has been run, it has been run like a plantation and you know what I'm talking about...".
Is this careful editing so you can fill in the dots with whatever takes your fancy without actually hearing what she was saying ?
Here lets try another couple and see what they say
"Most muslims are ........."
"Most gays are ......"
"All politicians are ....."

I am glad to see your pussification has run into the proverbial brick wall. I guess the headless fish slap did it's job.
Welcome back.

The "plantation" metaphor is actually pretty viscious.
Republicans use it to castigate the Democrat party for "using" African American voters: taking their votes and rewarding them with social programs that serve, in the long run, to maintain them in their needy status so that the exploitation can continue.
Democrats use it to suggest that African Americans who are members of/show support for a Republican administration are behaving as "house niggers:" winning favor by supporting the existing tyrannical leadership. This mantra doesn't play off the marginalized group component (as does the Republican version), but emphasizes that group as being victimized by its own members.
H.L. Mencken said: The primary purpose of a political party is to demonstrate that the other party is unfit to govern. Both parties engage in this, and each is successful.

So in the long run the Blacks in America are screwed like the rest of us by both parties. So we have achieved equality in America!!! Free at last, free at last, thank (insert belief in higher power here) Almighty, free at last!!!
I'm waiting for the "Bush eats black children" speech.
Replace Bush with Republicans, and that will be her future campaign logo.

Now I remember why I kept leaving the backroom.
Honestly, why do you people even care about this crap? You are like little old ladies, jabbering away about nothing important, distracted by the slightest turn of phrase that can be taken advantage of. It is both funny and sad- watching this is like watching Farenheit 451 come to life, even moreso than watching television or paying attention to popular culture. So:when do we start burning copies of the Bible and "Sexus"?
One of these days, this is going to sink in.

The reason why you leave the backroom?
Or the reason you continue to come back to read the posts in the back room?

Oh the irony... a member from the party of slavery using such a remark to castigate the party that granted emancipation:2thumbsup:
And if I'm not mistaken, didn't I hear the faintest trace of her talking "ghetto"? Listen carefully, she definately changes her accent when she says "and you know what I'm talkin' about". Truly inspiring stuff for the next democratic candidate...wonder if Gore would consider being her running mate?

I wish one side would get their act together and run McCain.... he's just got that Eisenhower or Roosevelt personality that isn't truly biased to one side or the other, but still has obvious conviction, and tries to meet both parties half way.

That's exactly why neither side will nominate him. The Big Two like their boys to toe the line. Neither party wants someone who thinks freely and makes decisions based on what he believes rather than what the "platform" says you must adhere to.
Party's are stupid. Politicians are stupid. They represent so much that is wrong with politics and no one will ever be able to change that because the corruption of money runs so deep, an aoutsider won't have a chance without picking one of the corrupt parties to back him

Clinton's comments were outrageous. She should apologize. Nagin's were even worse, and I'm glad he has apologized.

Evidently yahoo does, although I don't think he actually used those words. He's a politician after all. I think him and Marion Berry are playing pass the pipe. When it comes to those two I DEFINITELY believe in nurture over nature.

"I'm really sorry that some people took that they way they did, and that was not my intention," the mayor said. "I say everybody's welcome."
Wow very apologitic.
