View Full Version : Just a couple of ideas!

Well, I just loaded my Roman campaign I have not played in some time and couple of ideas crossed to my mind. :idea2:
1. Instead of recruiting "real" legionares(principles, triarii and so on) everywhere in the world after building certain buildings, you could recruit them only in Italian peninsula and maybe in Sicily". Legionares recruited from elsewhere would be so called, "foreign(example: African Principles and so on)" legionares. Not only from different description they could have slightly different stats, cost to recruit and even skin.
2. After your or enemy diplamat would be ambushed by faction you are war with, you would get message something like: Your diplomat "insert name" have been caught during its mission, we had to pay x amount of money for ransoms.
If it's possible you could get messages such as he was captured and killed, they didn't return him even after ransoms and so on.
Well thanks to all of you for this mod anyway... keep up the good work :laugh4:

Nice ideas, unfortunately for 1. we're limited by only being able to have one skin per faction (or two at a stretch) for a model, and we're limited by the nmber of models by a hardcoded limit (and the models have mostly all been assigned. And for two, it's not really possible for us to detect any interaction between an enemy army and a diplomat.
Enjoy your campaign!

Really, I thought we could have One Skin per faction per UNIT slot plus one Merc Skin. Dont we have Unit Slots free because of the fact alot of our units have individual models?

We don't have many unit slots either. There are probably better things to do with them besides a ton of roman units (we will have an eastern cohort unit though I think).

Got to thank CA for making max unit limitations... I wonder if they are ever going to set faction and unit slots unlimited... Well I shouldn't bash CA, they have had made exellent game series... sometimes those little things can just bug you so much :inquisitive:
Would it be possible to make these mini-mods for each faction? All you would need to do would be to install certain faction mod before you start or load campaign of specific faction. This way you could do more faction related game play.
I know a lots of people are not going to want this happen but this could one way to go...

We don't have the resources to do that sort of thing. We're strained for Graphics work as it is.

Plus the limits are there for a reason, they save on memory and processing power.

Nope, one skin per faction per model plus one merc skin. The edu entry references the model not the skin.

But can't you use 2 units, 1 that are the real legionaires that are only recruitable in Italy and 1 that you recruit everywhere else ??

There were plenty of 'real' legionaires who weren't from Italy.
