I love EB and my girlefriend. On the phone at nights, telling her about my daily conquests and follies. It takes a special kind of girl to give a hoot. Why is this post here? It is only here it could be posted because without it, none of this could be possible. Thanks EB!

I thought the idea was when a guy called his girlfriend - to sit there and listen to all the crappy things that happened to her in the day and then earn brownie points by telling her everything'l be fine and that you love her.. :inquisitive: I wouldn't dare talk about my hard days conquering on the phone to mine simply because i know she wouldn't care... Although when she comes to stay with me for a few months in june and starts playing the game herself she might find she likes it... And maybe THEN i could talk on the phone about my hard days conquest...

GAH! Where do you find girlfriends like that?

Most girls usually like to talk 25 hours a day about their own extreme problems (like "OMG I ran out of lipstick today and had to walk around an entire day without it, OMG it was SOOO embarrasing") and glorious achievements in their everyday life (like running 50 meters to catch a bus at the last second or similar), and don't seem to care if the man replies or not (well, after 15 minutes of silence they sometimes put up an angry face :inquisitive: and the man wakes up and says "yeah I agree" and then they continue talking again with a happy face).

I don't know how you did it bro, but getting a girl to not only LISTEN to what you want to say, but also enjoy it, takes skills :juggle2:

My wife was not interested in this game at all until she saw me fighting with the Gaesatae. ... I haven't decided if this new interest is a good thing, but at least I get to play more.

I've had the good sense not to mention it to anyone I know in RL. But that might have poor side effects though. I somehow am quite sure I'll be talking about it to a shrink one day when I'm trying to explain what happened to me.

I love the question, "when did you go to bed last night."

It's funny, "I can never remember exactly what time it was, I think it might have been about 1 o'clock"

Give or take about 3 hours, that is usually about right and my EB addiction continues for another weekend.

My wife hates RTW. She HATES it.

I play and play and play and she hates it. She wants to burn my computer. She wants me to die. In fact... I think she is trying to poison me....

:help:

Actually, she is a pretty good sport. She puts up with the little playing that I do since I work my arse off.

Yeah, because all EB players are computer nerds, right?

Stereotypes are generalizations, and when you generalize, you're wrong.

Yeah, because all EB players are computer nerds, right?

Stereotypes are generalizations, and when you generalize, you're wrong.

You are in fact generalizing right now in saying that all generalizations are wrong, making you wrong. As it happens, generalizations are generally true or have some good reason for existing. Soon as a lot of people come to terms with these facts of life, there'll be a lot less arguing and feelings getting hurt over certain comments or stereotypes or yadda diddy doo da.

EB players are disproportionately history and computer nerds, definitely. I'm sure a computer nerd, I wrote an IRC bot. You don't get much more nerdy than that. ~;p

Generalizations are not absolutes. They're . . . generalizations. As in, they aren't true for everyone, but they're true disproportionately.

Let us reexamine LegioXXXUlpiaVictrix's original statement:

Most girls usually like to talk 25 hours a day about their own extreme problems (like "OMG I ran out of lipstick today and had to walk around an entire day without it, OMG it was SOOO embarrasing") and glorious achievements in their everyday life (like running 50 meters to catch a bus at the last second or similar), and don't seem to care if the man replies or not (well, after 15 minutes of silence they sometimes put up an angry face and the man wakes up and says "yeah I agree" and then they continue talking again with a happy face).Clearly hyperbolic, but disregarding that, it essentially states only that girls like to talk about a lot of things that guys would view as trivial. This is, in general, patently true. Women talk about tons of things like makeup, furniture arrangement, how to dress, etc., that men generally care a lot less about. Obviously there are many women who don't care about those things, and many men who do, but that's why these are only true in general.

Yep, that is the worst. It is so anticlimatic when you win an stunning victory and rout the enemy troups only to try to share the victory with her and then decide that it would be best to stop at "Well I manouvered the Phalanx to meet the Caval... Never mind."

Unfortunatly all that survived my last computer virus is the writeup of my current Illyrian campaign, which is in RTR, but actually pretty interesting... i lost the writeup of my EB Pontus campaign, :embarassed: and that one was really good.
An idea would be, if you want, cause I love reading that stuff too, would be once the new patch comes out (by then i should be finished my current came, as the tides in the war with the Maks have turned against me) i plan on playing an Epeiros campaign. We should both start a campaign at the same time, write them out and exchange... ~:)

GF: "So how was your day"
Me: "It was okay. you?"
GF: "Blah. Blah Blah. Blah (Girly Talk) You want to come over tonight?
Me: "Umm... I'm a little busy, but I'll think about it"
GF: "well, I'm making (more Girly Talk) so are you-"
Me: "Ahhh. @!%$ they routed my left flank!"
GF: "What?"
Me: .........
GF: "You still there?"
Me: .........
GF: "Can you here me?"
Me: ...."oh, uh, yeah sorry got distracted. Yeah I'll get you that work study paper tomorrow, buh bye"

That sounds good but I can't promise anything on my part. Semester is just about to start and I promised myself I'd pull my ass out of the gutter this year. Of course, if you happen to do one anyways, feel free to let me know! I wish I had written at least something for my current Casse campaign. It's so wonderful... WONDERFUL I SAY!

Ok, I admit you are right there. It sucks to be losing to a huge Mak army, while at the same time be losing an argument about playing video games too much. It makes me wish that I could rout.

Well:

1) Women generally find uninteresting, childish and silly everything men like to talk about, namely videogames, sports, computers, cars, history, chemics, planes, music or whatever a guy's hobby is. And, the main manly topic: himself.

2) Men usually find boring, dull and neurotic everything women love to talk about, namely clothes, social relationships, buyings, kids, poetry, art, movies, gossip and whatever a chick's hobby is. And the main female topic: your relation.

3) When interested in each other, both pretend as h*ll that they are listening what both are saying by nodding heads, staring fixedly at each other eyes, saying 'yes' and 'really?" here and there, etc. But inside their heads their thinking about any other thing.

The only times when you'll see a couple listening to each other with interest are:

For her:
1) He's about to ask her to marry.
2) He's giving a description of his job and earnings.
3) He's talking too much about another woman.
4) He wants to break up.

For him:
1) She's talking about sex.
2) She's sweetly complaining about how lonely are her parents.
3) She is having/has/wants to have a baby.
4) She's known a man in her job...
