My over-riding impression can be summed up with the following phrase...Command & Conquer: in a galxy far far away.

Not over impressed. I dont even consider games such as this as strategy titles any more.

Whoever builds fastest will win... Picking the right units to fight other units will help a bit but nothing 'feels' particularly strategic about it...the land battles remind me of C&C so much it isnt even funny. Sprites just line up and blaze away at each other... No morale or experience that I can see, something I consider a given in a proper strategy game these days.

Space battles are slightly better, targeting specific points on a ship is a nice feature. Graphics acceptable but not great..

Will probably buy it when it hits the bargin bin or Im really bored whichever comes first.

I liked it, will buy it the second it comes out. Morale and experience are something that developers have to be wary off. They can lead to the game getting an elitist moniker. But unlike a lot of people here I like Warcraft-eque click fests. So long as the game built around it doesn't suck ass (like Warcraft does), which EAW couldn't possibly.

The ground battles. It was a bit small.

Space battles rocked, ground battles sucked badly. Too clumsy, too much rushing. I tried playing tactically and died. So I just built loads of tanks and won.

I think its the biggest disapointment in a while, graphics are lackluster, hell RA2 had better, the space battles are in 2d, the groundbattles have nothing new to offer, and it seems as bug ridden as a Paradox product. On the space battle in the asteroids(demo campaign) the space station has a number of targets which are all but impossible to hit, if you watch closely the fighter fly straight through it in their dogfighting, and it is impossible to target after certain hard points are hit, making it impossible to kill. :wall:

If you want a clicky, gamey strategy game get classics, Red Alert Series, ect. If you want Star Wars, get Force Commander, or the original TIE-Fighter and X-Wing games
