View Full Version : Editing Rate of Fire?

How do I edit the amount of attacks a unit makes in a given amount of time? Say, for instance, that I want to make an onager fire once ever 5 seconds instead of however often it does now: what is it necessary to change?

in export_descr_unit there is an explanation, and it will say in the top an explanation. find the place where it says 'delay between attacks 1/10th second' or somthing like that. find the appropriate onager list and find the line and part where there this applies. then i think you either increase it or decrease it, but you could experiment to get the right result..

That number you point out is always, without exception, 25. Given that, and the variation in firing rate even between, say, fire archers and regular archers, along with some of the commentary in export_descr_unit, it seems that Rate of Fire is somehow inherent in the animation of these things. I'll test it out, however, and edit with how things went.

Err, well, I tested it, and from what I see the fire delay number does nothing at all. Whether at 2 or 200, the rate of fire seems identical. I'm not sure why this is, but it seems pretty certain now that rate of fire is determined by graphics, and perhaps partially by descr_engines and descr_projectiles_new.
It doesnt work on missiles only melee.
I suggest you shouldedit the animations and this will have them fire faster.

If you wanted a faster firing time for archers edit the "LID_62 Archer aim and hold looping" animation using xidx. Currently I think it is about 12 frames and then loops to create the time aiming. If you delete the last 6 frames then you will have them firing twice as quickly.
