Howdy Guys,

Firstly, apologies if this is in the wrong place - perhaps gameplay guides was a better option? Still, if it's here I have a better chance of getting an answer before I go home from work :D

I was wondering - I'm playing as Sweboz, and kicking my usual type of ass. One problem however - I cant seem to build *any* units in a large number of my settlements. Ascaucalis for example - I have a Hall of Heroes, and a type III government. From what I understand, I should be able to recruit *something* there? Is this correct?

Sweboz seems a little unfinished anyway, and I appreciate it's a beta, I'm just wondering if I'm misunderstanding the government types or what.

Cheers!

I had the same thing, it deterred me from playing Sweboz....feels too unfinished. I couldn't even train units in cities with gov.type 2 and MIC 4

The Sweboz are awesome, now probably my favourite faction. I'm not even going to try and remember the names of the local settlements; but the only place I've been able to recruit decent units are the starting town, the town souch of that one, and the town in modern Denmark. NOTHING in the "Amber Route" towns. Spearmen and javelin-armed spearmen in the towns West of the starting town.

But, yeah, they really need to be able to recruit decent units outside of three towns. I'm currently stopped in my expansion because I A) don't hire mercs, B) depopulated these three key towns.

In my campaign, the northern towns are dedicated to the "Thunderer" (I think), gives 'em +2 exp. That, plus the Type 3 guv'mt and the Field of Games gives units +4 exp. If only a type 3 guv'mt would allow one to recruit heavier infantry, we'd really be ready to rock 'n' rol...

the sweboz are rather unfinished, at the moment. this probalby extends to their recruitment too. the up-coming patch will help them a bit, but we currently are a little short-handed in regards to this faction. also, it appears that their recruitment is purposefully rather limited compared to other factions. i'm not sure if this will be re-evaluated at some point, however.

The recruitment pools are unfinished for a lot of factions.

On a more manly note, I think its safe to say that Sweboz kick fucking arse, especially those dudes with the chainmail shirts, spears and swords.

Yeah, kinda thought they were a little incomplete. No worries, they're bad-ass enough to rumble with the best as it is.

Are barbaric factions limited to size 3 settlements (Minor City), or are there plans to include larger settlement sizes?

Getting the building browser to work would be pretty cool, too, but if not... meh.

I just did a custom battle to try out the German units. Those maniacs with the two-handed axes are crazy! A general's Hetairoi charged into the flank of my Swainoz <SP> line, so I flanked THEM with those axe-maniacs and chopped into ittty-bitty bits. Sashtoz <SP> (Sword guys with the tall shield) are decent enough, too: good for flanking. The lancemen (with the AP spears, forgot the name, sorry) are good linemen; I used 'em to hold the centre against pezhetairoi. Put 'em on "loose" formation and guard mode; took heavy losses but held the line. I figure they might do better against a heavier armoured opponent.

But, yeah, the guy's with the two-handed choppa really surprised me. Can't wait to get 'em in the campaign.

BTW are the building trees completed for the Sweboz?
