moan, moan, moan!
What's with my people at the moment, I'm playing the XL mod as the Volga's, started in early on expert and it's now 1322.
My empire is large, all of the steps, finland, Norway, Hungary and Tripoli. Soon the east will all be under my control. But in the last couple of years my people have been getting restless.
One minute they are happy and I can have high tax, next they are on the verge of revolt. I'm a good ruler I build temples, farmland, BF and I have spies in every region with at least 1 star valor.
I'm starting to think that my lands are being targeted by my enemies agents on a massive scale!
:furious3:
Maybe you have failed to create a national identity, and have been living far to long off of the fat of the people you conquered :laugh4:
Looks like you have a Civil war ready to happen there friend, I cant think of a better ruler for that to happen to then a "great" one. :laugh4:

are you fighting a lot of battles with your king, or sending him overseas at all? both of these have immediate and sometimes 'hidden' effects on province loyalty...
what V&Vs does your king have?

Well Mr. Odin I'll have you Know, that being such a great ruler I've set up a under five's finger painting class called 'I'm a little Volga and I live by the river' in which the kids paint using the colours of our national flag. How's that for creating national identity!

Yes my King is a seven star General so he is off kicking the poles, his V&V's are good nothing to make him unpopular, what would you suggest doing?

Thats great, you can use that at the rally when you address your remaining loyal soldiers as they go off to quell a rebellion !

Make him remember his royal duties in the bedroom and forget about his royal duties in the field. :laugh4:
Simply don't attack with your king when your empire has grown in size.

Does sending my king into battle really have that much influence on the folks back home?
No. It's only a problem when he's separated from his empire.
You may well be the victim of spy flooding. Are you at peace with Byzantium? Coz that's usually when they send in the clowns... :laugh4:
How is the religious situation in your empire?

Yes, one of the bugs in MTW.
Save the then attack with your king. See all those nice rebels. Then reload and attack without your king. Nothing. You'll only see this if you got a large empire though.

Religion wise I'm fine I've always made sure the population are converted over. The Byz have one island Rhodes I think, they are neutral but when has that ever stopped them.
I think my King attacking could be the problem, he is leading an attack in Sweden at the moment. :inquisitive:

Well send him back to teach those little revolting peasants how to fingerpaint... and use soap. Then they'll be less revolting.:saint:
First of all, nice pun there Yoyoma ~;)
Back to topic, does having the king on the edge of your empire create negative effects, like "area of affect" or someting?

Yes, the loalty effeckt the king gives diminishes with distance (aka the number of provinces you'll need to pass through to get to that province, starting from the kings province), but as long the king is in a costal province with a port it usually doesn't matter.
But this is the reason why some provinces in the middle of HRE (especially Switzerland) have a loyalty problem despite that all of them doesn't got an extra rebellious status from the gamefiles. Only a problem when your empire is big though.
