Way more complex than anything that Paradox has made I think .
It's got the lot .Lots of diplomatic options ,good tactical battles ,that although are turn based ,have a nice flow to them ,so it doesn't feel slow .
Two aspects of the game that really stand out for me are the Glory points ,and diplomatic points systems .
Glory points (Political points? ) are what you get for all kinds of actions that bring glory to your nation .Success in war ;building your nations level of culture etc .
Got enough glory ,and you win the game ,so it's not all about conquering every last province on the map .and it works very well ,and is also adjustable in the options menu .
Diplomatic points work in that ,if you win a war ,you get a certain amount of diplomatic points awarded to you .
so if you win over the AI ,you can make certain demands as long as you have enough points .
These can range from asking from a general to be exiled ;demanding they hand over a province ;arms reduction ,and loads more .
As long as you have enough points ,they have to accept your terms ,and the same goes for you if they win ,which solves the problem you often see in Total War games where that one last province stubbornly refuses to quit ,even when it's clear they face annihilation .
Anyway ,check the Matrix forums ,to get a better idea ,they're usually quite active .~

It's Crown of Glory, isn't it?
Yeah, it looks like an interesting game. Unfortunately it isn't available locally, I'd probably have to buy a copy over the net, which most likely means paying high shipping costs...

Screwtype .
Yeah sorry ,Crown of Glory .
You can get it as a digital download .
Mongoose .
It's pbem ,which i've never tried ,and I'm pretty sure you only have the quick battles option when you do ,which are played on a small grid and are pretty abstracted ,but the detailed battles wouldn't work with more than two players .
Cheers .
Scourge,
have you figured out yet how replacement/ resupply works? because i have no idea how the computer fills out it's depleted armies.
example, i'm playing france, and i there is a isolated, defeated austrian detachment of 7k troops in northern italy. it is separated from the rest of the austrian forces by my armies in 3 provinces. i figure there is no way it can get reinforcements without having to battle one of my armies. it begins the next turn as 3 separate armies with a troop total of about 50k and i don't get it.

That's too bad. To be fair, I doubt playing a game like this with 6 players would be fun anyway.
Thanks for clearing that up.

edit: Now that I've read the forums, I saw this:http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tt.asp?forumid=201
So there must be some sort of Non-hotseat MP...why don't they have all this information in one place?

I've just been reading up on this game and it sounds good. Why haven't I heard more about it?
But dang it, the digital download link doesn't work. Aaaargh! Maybe I'll DL Firefox, to see if that will work.
How much is the game, BTW? I couldn't see a price tag anywhere.

Hello Screwtype and nokhor .
Sorry about the late reply ,been away .
Anyway ,the game about 400 Danish kroners ,if I remember right .But that was digital download plus the disc by post ,so you can knock about a 100 off that for just the download .
Not sure whats going on with your game nokhor .Haven't played it in a while ,due to another game I'm still trying to get to grips with .But it does sound strange .
Are you playing the latest version ?
Did you bring all prisoners of war with you after the last battle ?
Could they have been unloaded from a near by fleet ?
Not much help ,but I never seen anything like that In my games .Reinforcements have to be brought from point A to B and can't go through blocked provinces .
Anyway ,try the Matrix forums ,if you haven't already .
ok, i think i've grokked most aspects of COG, and i'd like to try multiplayer. is anyone from here interested in playing a PBEM game?
