archer question

I remember reading somewhere that there is a toggle that will command your archers to throw down their bows and draw there swords. Am I loopy or did I read this somewhere. Also if in fact it exists, what key is it?

Alt+left click on the enemy unit that u want ur archers to engage in hand to ahnd combat with. that should do it

Except that they do retain their bows, you can still use them for shooting afterwards (assuming any survive - archers aren't particularly good melee units).

Once again: if you don't have it already, download the European manual at the Community Site (http://www.totalwar.com/community/downloads.htm). It's much, much better.
