I was thinking earlier how useless Diplomats are in game once they have weedled a few bucks, got trading rights etc etc.
I was wondering if it were possible to change the model on the strat map to one more like a general, and have them be able to go round recruiting mercenaries?
It would be great if they could do this, and it could represent paying of a local tribe to help you battle against an enemy.
If possible there would be quite a big problem having a diplomat as a "general", so would it be possible that he would just join the entourage of a captain (like he currently can ingame), once he hired some mercs, or maybe make the diplomat non combatant...neither being able to wage war nor be engaged in war. If the latter was possible, could he then "release" the merc units for war upon arriving at a home city?
This would also give assasins a much more important job to do also...maybe a succesful mission would result in the entire merc stack being destroyed representing them going back to their homelands, as there is no one to relay what is wanted with them by the employing faction...
...probably all fantasy on my part, but ya never know! :idea2:
